Tilson is ready for new challlenge

One of English football's longest serving managers, Steve Tilson, has penned a 4 year deal with the newly promoted League 1 team.
Tilson had been linked with the vacancy since former Dons manager Paul Ince left to join Blackburn.
Tilson, Shrimpers' boss since 2003, told the club website "it had been a frustrating time at Southend as the club did not have any money to sign new players " .
The former Southend and Canvey coach said " we are at the start of this new club's history . After winning promotion from League Two with Southend we went on to challenge for promotion the following year . I don't know how we did it but we ended up winning the League - we intend to employ the same strategy here."
"Like I said, with the squad we've got I think we can do well in League One although I will want to bring in some new players."
Tilson refused to rule out a move for former Southend United star Freddy Eastwood who has attracted attention from a number of clubs since being transfer listed by Wolves . "Like I already said ", said Tilson , " Freddy is an exceptional talent and if his Grandad had been Spanish he would have been playing in the European final on Sunday "
