Things are moving... Rest assured the club are very busy and clearly not knowing what division we would be in has delayed some of the moves which have been in pipeline for a while
Add to that a couple of players lined up gained further interest from other clubs which has made things a little trickier

The way we have previously operated suggests that serious targets will already have been identified and contacted. Some may have already verbally agreed to sign while others will be weighing up competing offers and will make their decision in due course.

Who signs for who elsewhere is of no consequence to us unless we were seriously pursuing them. During the close season there is always the potential for a wild card ie the club being contacted by the agent of a player not thought to be available or interested in us. That could happen at any time between now and September.

Cards will be held close to the chest lest the likes of London Shrimper sniff out that serious negotiations are underway.

All of the above is pure conjecture on my part. What is not conjecture is that KM and co hate even a hint of incoming signings being discussed on here and are especially vexed if there is any truth in such speculation. I have no doubt there will be signings. Some will come as a total surprise while the usual suspects will send early warning of the identities of others.

Final prediction: most if not all of the newcomers will have joined the club not later than than the beginning of pre season training. Not only will that be a welcome development but it will also be the first time Southend will have been able to say that for longer than I either care or wish to remember.

Aaron Blair joins the Spitfires following his departure from Maidstone United.

Eastleigh FC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Aaron Blair following his departure from Maidstone United!

Blair’s journey began in the academy ranks of Dagenham & Redbridge before his search for senior experience saw him enjoy successful loan spells with Brightlingsea Regent and Braintree Town during the 2022/23 season. His performances – particularly a return of five goals in seven appearances during one of his Braintree stints – meant he impressed and reaped the rewards.

The striker made a permanent move to Braintree Town, where his development accelerated. Over two standout seasons, he made 91 appearances and scored 31 goals, playing a pivotal role in the Iron’s 2023/24 National League South play-off triumph in which he netted in both the semi-final and final to help secure promotion.

In June 2024, Blair signed with Maidstone United, joining a squad with serious ambitions under manager George Elokobi. Blair has slotted in seamlessly, scoring eight goals in 26 league appearances so far in the 2024/25 campaign.

Upon joining the Spitfires, Blair said: “I feel ecstatic! I’m very happy to have signed. It’s been a long time coming and I think it’s the right time to make the step up.

“I want to get promoted and goals and assists are what I want to bring to the team!”

*Subject to clearance from The National League and The FA
