Not always. You're working in the premise that you get what you pay for. You're not taking into account the management team's ability to improve a player. Buying players with potential is a cheaper (but riskier) option. That said, buying a player is always a risk.Catch 22…
We need quality signings to get back in the FL, but need to be a FL to attract quality players.
Money talks though, but despite all COSU can’t seem to compete with the likes of York and FGR owners.
Correct. As has already been suggested several times, by good sources, league football was not on the table at the time we could have apparently got this deal done.
Cashman was a player the management team very much wanted and could have had. While optimism is admirable, this seems like somewhat of a cope.Jesus their is a lot of jumping to conclusions and doom and gloom here after we missed out on signing a player from the league below. A player who has had one good season at the age of 24 and would have been an proven gamble.
I'm comfortable that we didn't splash out on someone with that profile who had his career season in a role we don't really accommodate.
Hopefully the budget is going to be spent on bringing in a couple of strikers, a CB or two and a replacement for Gus when he leaves
How can i possibly suggest players, i dont know our budget i dont know what clubs will charge. All i do know is what i see in this league, lads with great skill like Bridge becoming ineffective because of physical hard working big teams in this league. I can name them if you like.I'm interested for you to name some in the same category.. genuinely
There was no strict order intended, just highlighting all the stuff that currently goes on. Obviously some things have to be done before others and to my knowledge it's probably ptetty close to the order that stuff currently happens. If that's the order then it doesn't sound like data analysis is the issue since that's one of the first steps, given Cashman has been rumoured for a while the analysis could have finished weeks ago.
It sounds more like the issue is that too many people that can't be got a hold of quickly need to sign off on a transfer, that's where things need to be made more efficient.
It really isn't. We lost out to an EFL club. It's going to happen. That's just the reality of it, but also shows the calibre of players we're targeting. This is dejavu from last season just waiting to hear the club have complained that the transfer rumours are stifling deals
Thanks... after the day I've had, I needed a good laugh.Justin talks the talk, let’s attack the season shame can’t act on it. Maher must be livid if walk if was him
Yeah losing out to Crawley because we can’t get our arse in gear is nothing to be concerned about. It really isn't. We lost out to an EFL club. It's going to happen. That's just the reality of it, but also shows the calibre of players we're targeting.
Indeed they “can” but that is not the same as they “do”..The board can delegate investment decisions. Set parameters and delegate to staff.
Not sustainable. Will not survive its contact with reality whether as we progress through this window or the next.We are as far from the 'ron' method of recruitment as is possible to be. Whilst I wouldn't want Ron back for obvious mismanagement reasons, if a player was put to him convincingly, he'd get them and pay for them quickly whether he could afford it or not at that time.
Now we have data stat models to satisfy, then player budgeted cost analysis spreadsheets (tom) that it has to fit within, then ratification of the key members of the consortium including justin \shivaas and agreement of the others in their time zones. Its then on the agenda for the next video meeting for discussion between the amigos, JD, John, justin, Tom etc before a decision is made to sign off finalization of an offer.
'oh he's gone elsewhere! '
Must frustrate the hell out of kev and co.
