Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
I wouldn't be concerned about a lack of signings yet. If we get to August 1st and we're still no closer then you can start worrying.
Unless we are looking to sign from the EFL I would say most of the good business will be done by the end of this month when contracts end- other than those under contract and demanding fees (if they are any good).

My general view would be this from a business point of view. If the club was going to bring in a proven striker on a 2-3k wage then it would be obviously better to bring in someone who is 25 or younger and pay a fee, than someone 30 next birthday on a free who will never command significant fee?

A 150k fee is likely paid in stages and 1k a week over a 3 year contract, and if you have faith in your recruitment system (like Peterborough) the likely returns outweigh any risk.

If you don’t trust your recruitment system, or your wonderful top notch recruitment software, give up and play the loan market. Low reward, underperformers can stay, over performers a la Bim get recalled, but the risk is a football risk rather than financial. Wonderful.

Simplistic I know but sometimes the expensive option is the cheapest in the longer term and vice versa..

it’s frustrating we not hearing anything at all, we need to get back into business, so we don’t miss out on our target that we need.

The club is working round the clock, but don’t forget our season ended 5 days ago.

If we’d have finished 8th say, or even lost to Rochdale, people could have gone on holiday and been back.

Gus went straight down to Cornwall on the Monday, Bonne flew out on safari on the Monday. Gubbins flew out. Rylee has gone out today.

Talks have been going on with players already on existing deals. Those out of contract and transfer targets too.

As I’ve said hundreds of times, you don’t hear much reputable rumours of players we are chasing at a National League club. We are lucky we have the excellent @londonshrimper. to reveal rumours, but even when he does, some people moan. CP is taking a ten day break from it all, unless some news breaks. He normally only posts stuff when it’s pretty much over the line.

We will sign new players, we are working on signing new players. Just let the dust settle on Sunday for a bit.

I believe all the details on season tickets will be next week. That’s when we will probably be told the retained list as well. It’s probably going to say Wood & Waldron gone and Bonne “talks continuing”.

Oh ducking bell. I’ve only just finished celebrating that berk getting the heave ho from the Beeb and now he’s going to be all over the NL coverage next year?! Well then there’s only one way out of this predicament - I’ll have to attend every match home and away.
There is absolutely zero chance he is covering the NL for them.

How come Wealdstone can afford him!?

I believe they have a relatively unusual model, where a group of sponsors/ supporters are approached with a business plan for a signing that might sit outside their usual wage parameters and asked if they might consider subsidising the transfer. Crowdfunding.

It is June 6.
Unfortunately the internet and peoples need to know what everyone is doing every second of the day via social media means expectations are not met when we haven't announced a signing before Wembley have finished cleaned up from the Oldham celebrations.
