Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
I don't
Hope not! Seeing he lives in Leigh I doubt he'll go there. Maher is very fond of him fortunately unlike most people on here!
Not saying I would necessarily be behind him moving on, and also not saying the rumour has any legs either, but at least something someone heard!

Great write up . And the highlights too some gem he looks to be let’s hope he picks us .

Those Pereira highlights within @ShrimperStats scouting report are absolutely mouth watering.

If we could bring him in alongside Cashman and perhaps someone like Slavi Spasov then I'd be more than happy.

Then it's a case of finding that dominant centre back who's a threat at set pieces.

Both Spasov (LCP) and Pereira (KAF) would already have players at Southend who they have played with before making the settling in period much easier.

I wonder what our wage limit is currently. We all guess at what wages players are on elsewhere & how we wouldn’t pay that much, and we know COSU are all about sustainability etc. But they are also ambitious and will want us to be able to compete for the better players when available. I’m just intrigued about how far they would go. The reality is, if we won’t pay more than, say, £1500 per week, even at NL level nowadays, we won’t be attracting the established better players. But would we go to £2k pw, or £2.5k? I guess none of us know but I do wonder where we sit in the playing budget league in the NL.

You called one persons opinion on Hopper a witch hunt. It`s not a witch hunt, it`s people expressing their opinions. No need to call it a witch hunt because it goes against what you want to hear. It happens a lot on here, if you are negative against players like Walker, Hopper and Bonne who haven`t really done what they were brought in to do, score goals. If a post doesn`t agree to your own thoughts on players, either scroll on or post your own thoughts, but it`s not a witch hunt.
Thanks for that. I think it's time for me to take a break from the Zone as it's starting to feel like commenting against the flow is no longer allowed. Bye for now.

The game has changed and there now less and less twenty plus goals a season strikers. Despite the NL season being forty six games long only two players scored more than twenty goals (Pierce and Linney). Back in the day the likes of Roy Hollis would regularly score twenty or more goals a season but he was one of many in the Old Third Division South doing the same. However Roy never played in a side where the right back scored seventeen in a season. I repeat the game has changed and I believe it is entirely possible to have a successful season withiut any of the strikers registering double figures The present scarcity of prolific strikers also ensures that any player out there with that potential will likely be priced out of Southend's reach.

If a striker was to score twenty or more for us next season my guess would be he would be newcomer and it would be the first time he achieved this milestone. Of our current bunch Kendal might be an outside chance to improve so dramatically. However, should that happen he will soon be gone. We were unable to hold on to Sam Dolby who has never come close to being prolific. Barnet secured automatic promotion this season and while their top scorer was Callum Stead with eighteen goals it was only one more than our leader, GSM.

I am sure if a better player than either or both of Hopper and Bonne is available we will try and sign him. If such a player is not available I suspect that KM would see his present quartet of strikers as good enough to be part of a team chllenging for promotion. They say Football is a game of opinions but right now KM's opinion is the only one that matters.
