Tree Huggers

The problem with the road widening is it will achieve nothing. All it will do is move the traffic a couple of hundred feet up the road to the Bell lights. After sitting there traffic will sit at Tescos roundabout and so on until Progress road.
The only way you can solve the problem is a straight road (flyover maybe) from before Sutton roundabout to past Progress road. I'm no tree hugger but the whole road widening scheme is a waste of time and money unless they go all the way.

One day the powers that be could be building a flyover through your kids favourite park or bulldozing football pitches for a new asylum centre. These chaps will be there to protest on your behalf, and with the pleasure of my benefits.
My grandad single handedly stopped a housing development in Dagenham by refusing to move to sheltered housing "War hero brings down the council" said the headlines.

The only thing worse than protesting for your beliefs is being silent in them.
The difference with your grandad is that he was local. I doub't many of these people are. They are just getting involved to to make a nuisance of themselves and when they are eventually forceably removed they will go home to wherever home is and leave the locals to pay for the extra police costs etc.

Sorry don't agree here. That is like saying there is no point replacing any one player in a team because the whole team needs replacing. You have to start somewhere.

Don't also forget, this won't increase the number of cars trying to leave southend in the mornings, it will just speed up the process by ensuring that the dual carriageway starts before the roundabout rather than after it.

I think the three protesters are local, it was the majority of signatures on the 20,000 signature petition which were not !!
