Turkey

Should have had a friend out there right now on family holiday with their 3 young children. Thankfully they cancelled their holiday two weeks back.

Just an angle on this...the government especially the Turkish pm have been complete *****, banning opposition parties and the like....violent oppression of demos etc....not good in a 'democratic' country. The army say they are defending the democracy of turkey and I believe they have previous in doing this....maybe a good thing if stopping some dick on a complete power trip.

1.The Pentagon, GCHQ are monitoring Turkish military, and civilian radio, ph, electronics plus have human sources inside the serious organisations.???? I would bet on it.
2. Turkish army and MI are very poor calibre of leadership, training and discipline.???
3.So were the USA, UK, et al unaware of the coup being planned or "in the know"?
4. How much of the spy craft was shared and with who?

This is a story that will unfold over the years to come AND Joe Public will never be aware of the majority of the power broking going on.
I only hope it ends up better than Iraq, Syria, Libya, Eygpt etc:'(

Um... How come Israel gets to enter teams in the UEFA and Champions league competitions?

All of it's in the Middle East.

Playing the likes of Iraq and Iran home and away might prove a bit difficult, don't you think.

Apparently the coup failed, nearly 3,000 soldiers and officers have been arrested.

According to the latest news, they are really clamping down.... around 50,000 people have been rounded up so far, even teachers! There is also talk of the president re-introducing the death penalty.
