If this is the case then surely this will end up before an employment tribunal.
Pretty sure that any contract (assume that he was on one?) will have a disciplinary process and unless we have followed it, or unless an 'act of god' can be determined to be gross misconduct, then any employment lawyer will happily take such a case on.
Without full knowledge of the facts then this sounds like terrible treatment of an employee, though I will reserve personal judgement until (if) the full facts become public.
Exactly. Who is to know whether it's the final step in an ongoing process or otherwise? It could of course be a national scandal (in which case we should probably all sharpen the pitchforks and brush up on flaming torch etiquette now), or it could be that someone didn't take appropriate measures/do their job properly in advance of the widely forecastable 'act of god'?
Since we don't know, there's no place for a witch-hunt.
Presumably shareholders of the club will have a right to ask questions about the processes and whether they were followed.
