Taking a trip in a few days and wondered if any of you had been and had any recomendations for things to see/do or decent places for food.

Thanks in advance.

I'd love to go back to Nashville, think it was 2005 I was there, albeit only for 2 nights (my mate won a Jack Daniels competition). 2nd Avenue is where all the good bars are and there are plenty of places to eat there too. We didn't get a chance but I hear the Johnny Cash museum is good. And if you have time, take a drive out Lynchburg (about an hour away?) and take the tour of the Jack Daniels distillery, I loved it.

DC - Smithsonian Institution is the type of place you could easily spend a week. Possibly the best museum in the world
New Orleans - the Blues and Jazz bars in the evening. Swamp tour. DOn't know what the French Quarter is like these days as I was there pre-Katrina
Nashville - can't remember much about, didn't spend long there and went to Memphis instead

Look in Time Out for food recommendations, will be more up to date.

Enjoy

Did New Orleans last year. Was rather disappointed with Bourbon Street, seemed to have turned into a Magaluf type strip.. There's still a few decent jazz bars and eateries along there, but it's all gone a bit tacky I think.. French Quarter is still stunning and has not been touched by Katrina thankfully. The Independent shops are fantastic for arty bits and bobs and its a nice place to wander round.

Second YB's suggestion for a swamp tour, really good but don't do what I did and lean out of the boat..
