Breaking News We are the Consortium buying SUFC.

Im looking forward to seeing how the consortium work in practice and in particular the new board set up. Chair and vice chair etc and how far the new Board might reflect in advance the recommendations that will come forth from the Independent Regulator. As a starting point an early test might be how far the Trust is engaged

Also interested in trying to understand how Ronnies 70% of the shareholding is distributed to see who wields most power?

our 6 saviours might have the odd hiccup along the way in due course, it wouldnt be unusual for the odd disagreement, so the structure will be very interesting

Will Stan be on the board?

With a bit of luck they'll just get on with paying bills, generating revenue and overseeing the roots hall revamp. Leaving the football to football people.

Perhaps the question should be "Will Stan be on board"?

A bit on Kreyling & Arnold. Kreyling is also or was a hell of a footballer, from my memory of him at senior school. Went on to play at Heybridge, Canvey and Braintree I think. Could maybe do a job! šŸ˜‚

Was a baller in the school team at Heycroft. Our class of 93’

Come on now, I know we are excited but some of this talk is ridiculous. If Ron has taught us anything, it's nothing is over until it's over. This consortium have purchased nothing yet. DD hasn't been completed and they've signed nothing. Let's get that sorted in November above all else.

Furthermore, plenty of football league clubs have been languishing down in this league and even below, for many years. Chesterfield have spent handsomely in recent years and are still here. Nothing is a given. Then look at the huge clubs in league 1 and the infrastructure and backing they have. We are nowhere near those clubs in comparison. To think we can make it to the championship in 5 seasons is not realistic at all. Of course, have a dream but it's dreams such as these that many fans lamented Ron for having. Overspending and getting to the championship killed us long term. Let's not go down that road again.
The critical point is getting back to the EFL and build from there, surely?

A sustainable financial model and mid table safety is surely the first target? The play offs are certainly reachable but only a few days ago we were staring at oblivion. When I started supporting we were firmly a third tier team with the occasional foray into the basement. I’ve seen two double promotions into the second tier. That may happen in the future but let’s not overreach at this stage.

From looking more and more into Rees, it seems like he is an owner (well custodian part of a consortium) with his head very much screwed on.

I think he’ll set firm budgets in place, look to maximise revenue streams and income, and make us sustainable in the long term. I don’t think he’ll be the type of owner throwing money away on ā€œbigā€ signings, but will give the management a competitive budget and allow them to work their miracles.

One of RM’s downfalls was budgeting. He’d set a ā€œbudgetā€ for the management, like all owners/CEOs or whoever, do. However, come an injury crisis, a loss of form, chasing a dream, a manager would be able to ā€œincreaseā€ that budget to get another player in. He did this numerous times, then lost control of what the budget was.

This. This and thrice this.
