Breaking News We are the Consortium buying SUFC.

I think success for us would be 'holding our own' in the championship and I would be well pleased with that! Think we could do it too with our new custodians and fantastic fans. After all, we have done it before!
The only way is up!

That's the top 10% success scenario IMO, beneath that in the optimistic-but-potentially-achievable-if-things-go-very-well is being a good L1 side who sometimes gets into the Championship from time to time, then there's the more realistic upper L2 lower L1.

It concerns me if fans expect us to overachieve compared to the size of club we've historically been. Unfortunately football is a zero sum game, all the other teams also want to go up the leagues and even if all were run exceptionally well that's impossible.

All well and good having ambition and hopes for us to grow beyond our historic place, but just need to be careful about what our expectations are.

I think success for us would be getting out of the national league and playing in the football league

Hear we go again running before they can walk .Baby steps get away from the relegation area first Then build from there .mid table this season will be fine .After all the crap the management and ayers have had to put up with. 10 point penalty So build from there first
Spot on. Tiny steps. November 1st will mark a new beginning. By that time we may be closer to the play offs and able to bring in a few new faces.

The commitment and dedication of players and staff has been incredible. Let's help any new additions will have the same mind set and drive.

We live for this club.

The others must have there own wealth to be part of the consortium We already know one as he has been part of Southend United for quite some time

Maybe some fans of former EFL clubs believe that they have the devine right never to leave it.

When Southend were relegated into the NL I looked up the historical league tables over 50/60 years. There were only a few clubs who had finished below us or around us who had not been in the NL in the last 30 seasons.....One was Rochdale and the other was Oldham. can't remember the others, think one was Crew?

Any L1/2 yo-yo club are just as likely to spend a few years in the NL as they are in the Championship.

Totally agree however we have the nucleus of a very good side at this level and we’re sitting way below our true position because of the -10pts deduction. To be 9pts off the play-offs with 32 games to play is nothing IF we can get the embargo lifted quickly and get some quality new additions in. Survival is all that matters but play-offs? Maybe. It’s still feasible depending on how quickly things move from here.

I still think Championship is achieveable (in a sustainable fashion) and should be on the radar...within 5 years I would say , is not unreasonable 😉.....we have done it twice before after all .....not saying it is a failure if we don't make it and I get that we would have no more right to be there than any other club.

Not unreasonable at all and it would certainly give that countdown timer on the home page a new purpose after it's excellent recent update :Thumbs up:
