I think we owe him a debt of thanks for bringing TL, JS and the coaching staff to us as they were all his draw however, long term if we want to be a self sustaining football club on non league income I don't think we can afford to pay the salary he would command long term. It wouldn't surprise me if the consortium are looking at paying him off what the club or ron owes and using him on more of a consultancy or ad hoc basis.

I might be imagining it but I think I’ve heard Stan say a few times he isn’t working at Southend United for the money. Obviously still is a job and should be paid but I don’t think he will be asking for the kind of money you may think. Stan loves this club and is a ****ing legend.

I think without Stan this club might have folded.

I’ll be forever grateful he helped get rid of Phil Brown and install Maher and co.

I’d hate to think how this would have turned out if we didn’t have such a likeable team on the pitch. I’m not sure if the same fight to save us would have been there had we been relegated into NLS (or god forbid the NLN) and the football had been miserable and certainly we wouldn’t have been the same prospect to save once attendances dropped below 3000 (we had just 3342 for Brown’s penultimate match).

My point is they haven’t ******* that much money. Built success on a solid structure in place with young players and good coaching not spending big bucks on players. Created momentum.

What difference does that make ? My guess is they are all pretty shrewd business men and they won’t be throwing their money away but with their business acumen hopefully they will build something we can all enjoy, only time will tell
