Breaking News We are the Consortium buying SUFC.

Unlike before when we had one voice or rather no voice from the top I would like to think most things from now on will be a shared veiw on how the football club should be run nd as nearly all the new men are southend supporters that they will get on well .

What I am taking away from this is that these guys, unlike Ronald Rat, don't need to make money from the club. I think that's why the "Custodian" term is being used & that's vitally important. Whilst the Consortium won't look on us as a charity what I expect is that they will fund sensibly & creatively. That will then create the goodwill that has been sadly lacking for so long, fans & more importantly local businesses returning & getting more involved, thereby giving them a return that can be reinvested.

From probably Day 1, I can't remember that far back, the £ signs in Rat's eyes were all around what he could make developing this bit or that bit & because he never had the funds to do it that dream just fell apart. Many sensible of us said that there was no out for Rat without giving something on the property side, which we now expect to see in exchange for the 500+ units moving from RH to FF. He totally denied, when accurately questioned by Simon Jordan on TalkSh*te, that property was involved at all & I think we may have the council to thank for partly changing his mind on that.

That or they could demolish RH & build a multi-storey car park for John Watson to keep his fleet of taxis in. 😁

If 5000 buy a £300 season ticket the club will get 1.2 m as HNRC will get 300k in VAT

If we want to underwrite a 1.5M budget on season tickets alone we would need to sell 6250 @ £300 and I think thats a bit of a stretch
Yeah, in the NL we'd be lucky to shift 4k let alone 6

I take your point but just to be pedantic the VAT due from a £300 season ticket is £50 (300 divided by 1.2) so HMRC would receive £250,000 if we sold 5,000.

Of course some people think it’s ok to spend the tax and worry about paying it some other time, or not…

Presumably force of habit for including interest for late payment?

I will interested to learn exactly what the plans are for Roots Hall. If rumour is right then capacity is capped at 7500 for the moment and The Hall isn't fit for purpose. Bringing the Stadium up to standard, while providing the facilities for non matchday income is every bit as important as developing a playing squad.

Rootshall once had many ways of bringing in exta cash IT had the market on Thursdays The night club up stairs And quite a lot of qiz nights .

It definitely looks capped around 7.5-8k. The online ticket site was showing lots of blanked out areas for the Oxford game that never used to be.

From looking more and more into Rees, it seems like he is an owner (well custodian part of a consortium) with his head very much screwed on.

I think he’ll set firm budgets in place, look to maximise revenue streams and income, and make us sustainable in the long term. I don’t think he’ll be the type of owner throwing money away on “big” signings, but will give the management a competitive budget and allow them to work their miracles.

One of RM’s downfalls was budgeting. He’d set a “budget” for the management, like all owners/CEOs or whoever, do. However, come an injury crisis, a loss of form, chasing a dream, a manager would be able to “increase” that budget to get another player in. He did this numerous times, then lost control of what the budget was.
Sounds good to me. :Thumbs up:
