Ticket News Wealdstone FC (Home) this Saturday, 2nd December 2023

Maybe just me, as I'd forgotten , but I wonder if any of the non regulars actually know there is a game on saturday ?
As its rearranged its not on the fixture lists handed out at the ground . Which brings me onto one of the great things that used to happen in the Tilly years , you would always see posters around town in cafes, shops etc about upcoming fixtures . They seem to have died out (another one of the Rat's shortsighted cost-cutting measures ) but I'm sure they would have swayed a few people to turn up .
There used to be one outside Altons too so everyone using the A127 would see it.

Yeah this is something I hope the Consortium bring back.

Make it like a totalitarian regime so there’s no escape from the fact you’re in Southend United territory as there’s a constant reminder of Southend United with posters, those mini kits in cars, kids wearing Southend shirts, bumper stickers etc.

I favour a “you’re in SUFC territory” addition to all the Southend on Sea signs .. especially the ones on routes from north Essex

Exactly I remember saying that to Vic Jobson years ago and he did do something about it.

Are the trains on strike Saturday. c2c are advising of a severely reduced service

Industrial Action Update December

Page last updated 16 November 2023

Following the announcement from the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF), strike action is planned for Tuesday 5 December. Action short of strike is planned for Friday 1 – Saturday 9 December.

We are currently working with our train planning team to work out the level of service we can run on Sunday 3 December and will update this page when we have more information.

1 and 8 December

  • Reduced peak time service.
  • 2 trains per hour off peak on all routes.
  • First and last trains unaffected.

2 and 9 December

  • Severely reduced service.

3 December

  • Severely reduced service.
  • Engineering works will also affect your journey.

4, 6 and 7 December

  • Reduced peak time service.
  • 2 trains per hour off peak on all routes.
  • First and last trains unaffected.
  • Engineering works in the evening.

5 December

  • No c2c trains on the c2c route.
Rob Mullen, c2c Managing Director, said: “I’m really disappointed that an agreement with ASLEF hasn’t been reached. The impact of this ongoing action is significant for our customers and colleagues. I’m hopeful that further meetings with the unions are productive and see progress made toward concluding this challenging time for the railway.”

We would advise customers to check before they travel here: www.nationalrail.co.uk

If your service is affected by disruption, cross-industry ticket acceptance and temporary removal of certain ticket restrictions may be made available. If you purchased an Off-Peak or Anytime ticket and choose not to travel because your service has been cancelled, delayed or rescheduled, you may be entitled to a fee-free refund or change from the original retailer of your ticket.

  • Customers with Advance, Anytime or Off-Peak tickets for travel between Saturday 2 December – Friday 8 December that were purchased before the industrial action was announced, can instead use their tickets any time between Friday 1 December up until Tuesday 12 December.
We will do all we can to honour passengers’ tickets, however the industrial action will cause significant disruption. Customers will have the following options:

  • Refunds: If your service has been cancelled, delayed or rescheduled, you will be entitled to a change or refund from the original retailer of your ticket. Find out more about applying for a refund here.
  • Season Ticket holders (monthly or longer only) who are unable to travel due to timetable disruption on the day that strike action has been cancelled, can claim 100% compensation through Delay Repay for the strike dates if their journey is valid for one or more legs, on a train company impacted by industrial action.
  • Flexi Season Ticket holders who have activated a day’s travel for a strike day and were then unable or choose not to travel, can claim 100% compensation for these days through Delay Repay if their journey is valid for one or more legs, on a train company impacted by industrial action.
  • Season Ticket holders (all durations) who choose to travel will be eligible for Delay Repay compensation if their journey is delayed against the timetable in operation.
  • Changing operator or route: To help minimise any disruption, you may be able to use your ticket on another train company or an alternative route. Please contact the train company you are due to travel with for more information.
  • Travel within London: customers presenting magstripe National Rail tickets (Singles, Returns or Season Tickets) for journeys across London are permitted to travel on TfL services (bus, Tube, tram or DLR) on reasonable routes only, on the days of the National Rail industrial action only. Barcode and tickets on smartcard cannot be accepted by TfL staff. Please note if your ticket is for a journey that includes crossing London it will not be valid on London Underground services on an alternative date. Please contact the original retailer of your ticket for more information.
  • Return Journey: If you do not/cannot make your outward journey because of a strike, you can have a refund on your outward and return ticket even if the latter is not affected by a strike. And the same if the return journey was affected by a strike but the outward journey was not.

All we need now is a frozen pitch,

Temperatures are going to be really cold on Friday and Saturday 4 or 5c max daytime. I would imagine minus or close to overnight.

Better get some heat or sheets out.

Wrap up well fellow shrimpers

"This is Blues Country"

We've had that strap line or something similar before.
