Been lumbered into taking daughter and her mates to Lakeside then having to bugger off because being in the vicinity of the old man is seriously uncool. Hiding in Cafe Nero ( the area is rammed, its hell) where there is a husband and wife taking a break. She is checking her christmas list which going by the lack of bags hasn't been even started yet. He looks like a can of petrol and a match would be a better way of spending a saturday afternoon. He's in hell too.

Three hour wait on the runway at Philadelphia waiting for plane to be de iced.

Pilot insisted that at least there would be no snow at Heathrow. Arrive to find the M25 ****ed.

Snow. Now the whole country grinds to a halt.

Has not stopped here and not one gritter has been seen or heard - really dangerous conditions.
Good to see that local essex councils are just as bad as London boroughs. If roads around here aren't gritted by the time the temperature drops then they will be in-passable, and the roads around me are major access roads.
Every f-ing year is the same, 2 bob money grabbing merchants.

The gritters were definitely out last night here, however, both Church Hill and Bread and Cheese Hill are closed this morning. Is this because they didn't use enough grit, or because they didn't grit often enough - sometimes a 2nd coating during the night is helpful?

My poor hubby has a flight due to arrive at Gatwick at 11 tonight so he's got to go out and pick these people up - I hate this weather with a passion.

Or possibly there was not enough traffic to make the grit effective.
The spreaders can only do so much in the way of putting the stuff down. It requires other traffic to crush and spread the grit efficiently.
And if the snow is preceded by any rain it just washes it away.
No snow just rain east of the town...

Not one speck of grit has been dropped here in Loughton, buses suspended probably for whole day and like I say, the road outside my flat and to the side are busy access roads. Already trying to plan ahead for the morning, even if it stops now (and that don't look likely) it's going to freeze and I'll simply have no way of getting to work. Absolutely unbelievable.

It's turned more sleety now but if the temperture drops too much tonight then tomorrow is going to be hell on the roads. Blackheath Hill is going to be fun for me.
