When did it go wrong last season?
Pre season with poor prep and half a fit squad?
Not getting a settled midfield until we had Timlin, Laird, Tam and Hirst with it breaking down when loans finished? Not sorting out PS's future as is normal aroung Xmas so leaving all in limbo?
Cressie being sent off stupidly when MP, Barks et al where injured?
Tomlin then Britt being injured?
Bring Bilel back? Cup runs and replays?
All the Wembley hype and taking the league business as a sideshow?

IMO it was the lack of a settled midfield except for the 8/9 game run.

errrr poor team selection could also be included in this (as admitted by Mr. Sturrock)?

Long ball. We had the players to play it on the deck but tactics were to launch it. When we played FOOTball we looked a half decent side

My thoughts on this was that the unsettled midfield was a major cause of our lack of achievement and failure.........and that at present we appear to have less of a midfield than for the past 3 years. I know it is early close season etc but I do not have full confidence that a worrying situation is going to be sorted and settled by the start of the coming season.

I would argue that everything contributed but the pivotal moment was when Bilel came back. On reflection that smacked if desperation. To compound matters many of the fans welcomed him back giving the wrong message to the club and the other players who I'm guessing were not over enthusiastic.

Sacking Sturrock, 1 win in 7 league games for PB, a let down of a Wembley final, sorry but I am sure we would have done better on both counts had Sturrock been in charge through to the end of the season.

Can't agree with RM's strategy of giving the new manager more time to assess the squad by using the remaining league games, I can guarantee that at some point next season PB will use the excuse of 'inheriting someone elses squad'.

Agree that we now have to look forward, give PB the benefit of the doubt and get behind the team that runs out for the first game of next season.
