My father-in-law kept telling me that a screen pops up when he logs onto his PC saying that his password is due to expire. Whenever I've had this on WinXP I've ignored it and it has gone away.

Now when he boots the PC it says his password has expired (he never had one) and he needs to change it. Whatever he enters is wrong and he cannot get into his PC...

Anyone know a way around this?

Cheers, Paul

I think the no password only works for Windows 95/98.

There should be an administrator account (created when the Win2k was installed). Your going to need that to get in.

Overwise you can reinstall Windows (you can do this without "wiping " your data as well , it essential just overlays a new version of windows onto your machine) Which should allow you to create a new password for the admin account.

Or just upgrade to WinXP ?
Or could also be a perfect opportunity to try that lovely Linux OS ;-)

you might be able to get in as Admin with no password, I think WIN2k sets an admin account by default and providing he hasn't set a password on that one you should be ok

CHeers guys - yep, simply logged in as Administrator, no password and altered the users account.

Always good to have a few options!
