If the club aren't making similar items of merchandise, but there is a demand for it and the club or trust receive something in way of royalties, I really cannot see the problem.

Considering the difficulties the trust had with the LDV merchandising (for an organisation who had already contributed considerably into the club when it was not riding high) I can't see the permission being granted to an outside outfit on the vague promise that they will make a donation.
Exactly.
oooh dear, obvioulsy an idea that you have had, but they are on it first??? ha ha

good luck to them, if the club wanted to sell merchendise so much they wouldnt have franchised the shop. I hope you do well. I think everyones a winner
Not true. I have no interest in making a few quid (and didn't think about it either!). I simply feel strongly that people like that take money away from the club.

I don't see the argument that they are not. If someone is going to buy an SUFC related t-shirt (or something else) then I would rather they bought it from the club so that their money can be used to improve the clubs finances, not some bloke in the street's. If there is only one place to get said t-shirts (i.e. the club) then that is where their money will be spent.
lb that is all well and good if the said product is available at the club shop. However if it isnt then how can you be harming the club, if they arent offering the product in the first place.

I would much prefer to buy the item from the club thus giving them all the profit, However if a particular item is available else were and the club arent selling it then i dont see the problem

The question is will they? Do you think any of the street sellers at the LDV Finals paid the club any royalties? There was nothing on their merchandise that warranted any. So long as the club badge isn't used there is little the club can do to ensure that they do. (As far as I know the only thing that is copyright is the badge.)

If you're talking about a vague promise to make a donation, then how much is that going to be, if anything?

These are questions that we cannot answer right here and now. I am talking about principle.

So, if the club are not going to produce such items and there is a solid arrangement of royalties going to the club or trust... would you change your way of thinking at all?

I would be surprised if many of the players had copyrighted their name.   I can't even see it would have crossed their mind that they were famous enough to see the financial rewards if they did.
I was not actually referring to players copy righting their names, but things like the Club Badge/Crest which i presume would be subject to copyright.

The image rights refers to players, but these are more likely to with the our so called superstars Beckham etc etc

Quote[/b] (jokercomedyclub @ Oct. 08 2005,12:23)]morning everyone ! this question is being sent to u from a third party, iam the messenger !!!!! a new local co (funky dot com ) is looking at producing a range of  unofficial sufc gear , as no one else does ! goat , super roy, drewe t shirts  etc . do u think there would be an intrest ?
I think an SUFC shirt made by Nicks rather than Nike would be a big hit.

You could combine it with a pair of Brooks tracksuit bottoms and a pair of Jet 777 trainers.

Sorry, but definitely not for me. I prefer my money to go to the club and Trust, even if it means paying slightly over the odds and having a limited choice.

If the club and Trust don't come up with anything I like, I'll just stick to the replica shirts. However, I'd buy a "Feed the Goat", "I've see Jupp score" or a "Maher is God " t-shirt if the club or trust produces them.

Personally cant see why this is such a debate.

The club produce on the hole very plain and unimaginative clothing. Dont get me wrong its not bad stuff but it does lack in creativity a bit.

Some bloke who happens to be a Southend fans wants to produce a few shirts with a picture of Che Wilsons **** on it so what. Its a niche market that the club havent exploited so why shouldnt he.

If the club were more savvy they would have done the same.

I think the club are being savvy and you are spending too much time in Brighton.
