Still on way home. Firstly 580 shrimpers singing all game did us proud. Won’t knock those that invaded the pitch, it’s months of built up frustration and sadness. I’m at the lowest point I’ve been in 43 years. It really feels the end is near and is nothing we can do. Yes we can protest and I will try and get there tomroow but Ron simply doesn’t care
As for the game. Like last week at Halifax we dominated large parts of the game just lacked in the final third. They scored a wonder goal with their first and only effort first half. Second half we carried on playing the football and created a few good chances.
Then I’ve know idea how Harry Taylor is red carded, even York fans said it was a poor decision. Never a red and hopefully it will get over turned. Can’t comment on the GSM
One as again no idea why he got sent off. But the red cards changed the game and unlike us last week at Halifax York took advantage.
It’s a game we should never have lost but on the day everything seemed to go against us
Started with 14 players of which or was injured or a risk. Now two sent off and Colin couldn’t kick at the end. How Kev gets the team up for Tuesday I’ve no idea, that will hurt today
As for the fans, we were fantastic and in the end anger took over for some and they went on the pitch. Wasn’t to long but sure it will gain some attention
All in all a very sad day for the club
Ok. So, a York fan's view.
Today it did seem to come to the crunch for you guys.
First half we didn't do much attacking wise. It seemed there were opportunities many times to pass forward but lacked confidence.
It really was heart in mouths stuff whilst we were passing it around at the back so much.
Inviting on the pressure.
You seemed a good side, but we defended well. The goal came out of the blue, by a player who wouldn't have played due to illness of our CB Howe. Our erstwhile LB Crookes moved to CB, whilst Thierry Latty-Fairweather went to LB.
He scored from his weaker right foot - our only real effort up to that point.
Which must have been a sickener for your team.
Second half the players had a rocket up their arses and we came out to press from the front.
Now, i know a lot of you think the ref was dreadful.
But, about 5 minutes before the first red card, one of your defenders got away with murder.
I'm in the East Stand - diagonally opposite side to you.
A player of ours put in a cross (from the West Stand side) near the 6 yard box. Your defender for a good 3 / 4 seconds was pulling our number 9 down. This was clearly visible from the East Stand.
A clear and obvious penalty.
Re: the first red card. No chance you will get that rescinded. Our number 9 was away and your defender was all over him. We all could see it from the East Stand.
Things were unravelling for your team, but, from a sporting perspective it was the right decision.
Put it this way, we have had a defender sent off for a very slight touch of a player this season in a similar situation.
The second red, it may well be a case of mistaken identity. However, it seemed that your player received a straight red.
Now, Scott-Morriss had already received a yellow earlier on. It seemed that the pressure had got to him as he was gobbing off to the officials seemingly constantly afterwards.
Whether it really was mistaken identity, could be a moot point, because he had lost it.
I write this, not to rub it in. Far from it. He and the rest of your players are up against it. With only 16 in the squad. And where you could name 14 today.
All this down to one man, Ron Martin.
You've played the better football in the first half, conceded to a wonder strike and then have gone down to 10 men. But your number 2 lost the plot.
The pressure of it all, i guess.
I get the frustration of the fans. We as a club have been in the situation not knowing if we were going to survive to the next weekend, to the next week. But, allegedly some of the pitch invaders were having a go at some of our more elderly fans in the West Stand.
That isn't a good look.
Especially since we have been there for you.
Many York fans joined in clapping for Martin Out.
A fair few fans, including me, joined in the chanting.
I really hope you survive. And we meet in better times.
