Essex CCC 2017

Is it me or do we often come up short in run chases like that.

Iqbal got 7, we got 166/8

Don't think that's enough, not aggressive enough

Kent 50/1 after 5.1

And we did get spanked by 7 wickets with nearly 2 overs remaining in end. I hate losing to Kent.

In both t20 games nowhere near aggressive enough, wonder if we need to move the likes of Zaidi and Foster up the order a bit? We certainly don't make the most of the powerplay, would like to see someone more explosive open.

Completely agree with this. When you had the likes of Pettini just having a swing from the off it really gives you a good start. Obviously it doesn't always come off but I remember in years gone by we've got up to 70/80 just off the powerplay and that really puts pressure on the bowling team! A shame on Iqbal but hopefully that will result in Lawrence getting a run in the team

Yep Pettini and Ryder would both have a swing and it paid off a lot of the time. I watch so much franchise t20 and you have to go for it in the 1st 6 overs, all the successful teams do

That went well! :'(

Not sure if true, but according to reports, he was out with his wife and one year old, and she was attacked with acid in a restaurant

Again only as reported on some sites, so not sure if correct, but would explain the reasons

Finally a Win!

I didn't think 170 would be enough, but when we had them at 58/4 I started to worry less.

Good to get a win but I still don't think we accelerate quick enough, I don't think we got to 100 until over 14 again. Chopra shouldn't open in this format, wastes too many balls in the powerplay. I'd really love to see Zaidi open, get us off to a good start.

You can see why we wanted Tamim at the top of the order.
