We played Shoebury Garrison at home in FA cup 2nd qualifying round 1908/9
I wonder if that is our closest ever derby match or is Canvey Island closer?

At least it won't be Millwall

Home tie v NL side or Colchester (same thing really)

no doubt we will get Wigan or Blackburn away!

Anyone know what FA cup game the BBC will be showing on Saturday .

Mind you maybe Mick knows when it started to be split as I see we played Bradford PA away in 2nd round 1954/55 season
Certainly from at least 1960/61 to 1997/98 Rounds 1 and 2 were regionalised. Obviously somewhere between 1955/56 and 1960/61 it began to be regionalised in Round 2. Round 1 may have been regionalised a lot longer...looking at the Official History of Southend United book, our previous away 1st round game OOP North was in 1921/22 at Worksop Town.

How about a low ranked Conference side who will see this as the highlight of their season, their FA Cup final, the reason why they support a no-hope, nothing team that usually has nothing else to play for except staving off the enivitability of relegation?

So, Leyton Orient it is then. :hilarious:
Think Daggers might think it's them can't see the Orient going any further

Indeed. Actually in 1955/56.

Lincoln City at home.

Looking forward to the Echo's headline on the following Monday "Ex Premiership manager beaten by Rayleigh schoolteachers".

We know Brown hates cup matches and is normally happy to go out in the 1st round though he may not be so happy to lose to Lincoln and the Cowley brothers.
