Been saying the samething for the last 2 years. I think the club is into deep now and there is no new Ground in Sight. Unless we get some Arab or Russian Billionaire come and shower money at the club the club really is up **** creek without a paddle.

AFC WImbledon and now Rangers are showing the club will never die the real club is the fans. Starting again maybe in the Essex Senior League might be very painful for a few years but as AFCWimbeldon and before that Aldershot showed you can get back into the Football League and above all the club comeback run by the fans and the likes of Ron Martins of this world can never get their greedy hands on the club again.

If a club like Glasgow Rangers can start in Scottish Division 3 then really there is no limit to what can be done by the fans.We are little Southend United, Glasgow Rangers one of the best supported clubs in Europe they are now playing effectively in an amateur league. Time to choose death by a thousand cuts or a rebirth. Its not an easy option but it will be your club, up to you.

I appreciate the efforts made by Martin over the years to keep the club going --- obviously it's in his best interests to do so ---- he must have sold lots of his assets to finance his very large house and luxury lifestyle.

He doesn't appear to do much property developing recently and I wonder where his money comes from if he has sold his family jewels.

I don't think the club will now fail meaning we need to reform a new club however I do think this spells danger. I also believe Ron has come to his time now and cannot cope with the financial losses..

the truth is we seriously need some investment

Problem is, whilst we need massive investment pdq, I'm sorry to say that it is unlikely a major investor will come in whilst RM is in situ (if they have done their homework, that is).

I really do try and keep out of club politics, it just makes me angry and then I go and do /say something I will no doubt later regret! So, in a measured and reasonable tone, I'll share my thoughts.

I've read Lockett's statement, he is still a non Exec Director. Surely that implies there has not been a massive parting of the ways ala Tara.

I also don't trust Ron Martin as far as I could throw him (unless I tipped him off the 15th Flr of Alexander House). But then again, there are around 91 other club chairman in the League that I similarly wouldn't trust. And if I am honest here, most football fans would say the same.

Martin wont sell the club unless he is in absolutely dire financial straites and desperately needs money. He has far too much to lose if Fossets ever gets off the ground. So, he will hang on until at such point Fossets is no longer viable. The big word there was IF.

It is of no value at all for Martin to either run the club into the ground or to watch it plummet out of the league. He needs Fossets and to get it he needs Southend United. That is why he will never let control go. If someone was to buy it off him, they would not only need to buy club and its assets, they'd also need to find a massive pay to cover the prospects he'd expect on Fossets.

If Fossets doesn't get off the ground, at some point Sainsburys will want their money back or will want to build a supermarket. I believe it is at that point where we find out whether or not we've spun a series of lies and half truths over the last few years. The real question, and therefore the real threat, is... how long will Sainsburys allow the current situation to continue.

Bit off topic, but how do we know it isn't Sainsburys who aren't dragging their heels on the roots hall development which is having a knock on effect to FF?

We don't. I do know that Sainos have a large team on the project though, compared to just Ron and GK.

Thats a medical research program Ill be avoiding even if I ever get desperate for money....
