Am I the only who is not sure if Powell is the right manager for us? Fantastic player for us but his managerial record is not great at all.

No1. choice would be Nathan Jones - very unlikely
No2. choice would be Mark Warburton - unlikely
No3. choice would be the Cowleys - unlikely

But happy with Chris Powell too

Very unlikely indeed. Luton will be in this league next year. They are having a great season though, scoring hatfuls.

I can't agree it went South with Sturrock in charge. We were 9th when he was sacked. Brown took over and we finished 11th. I'd have stuck with Sturrock until the end of the season

Sturrock's last season started slowly but with Tomlin and Assombalonga we were well in with a shout at Christmas. Our 10 games from Nov - Boxing Day yielded 22 points as we won 6 and drew 4. That over a season equates to over 100 points and is champions form. We sat 4th in the table at that point.

But from 29/12 it absolutely did go south... the JPT run may distract us from the reality. The 15 games from 29/12 to the date Sturrock was sacked yielded just 14 points as we won 4, drew 2 and lost 9. Over a season that is relegation form (around 42 points). But the final nail in Sturrocks coffin was 3 games in a week against 3 of the bottom 4 teams, all at home. We should have collected 9 points (we were 8th prior to those three games) but we lost 2 and drew 1. We should have even lost the one we drew as a Torquay player, clearly in an offside position, kicked the ball into an empty net when it was going in anyway. In each of those games, Sturrock played 3 different sets of players with 3 different formations. None of them worked and when the manager has done all he can, played all his cards and it doesn't make any positive difference, then it's time to go.

Both Sturrock and Brown, when all is said and done, have done a remarkable job since August 2010.

Not just in getting us elevated into League One, but being part of the redevelopment of the youth set-up, as well.

Kudos!

Sturrock was indeed on a downward spiral and we were looking no where near getting into the play offs. Getting in Brown at the time gave us a chance to give us a boost back up the table (which failed) but at least gave the new manager a few months longer to build for the next season.

Won league one then took Charlton to 9th in the championship...must count as positives.

Yes he did a decent job there, but Charlton were punching beneath their weight in league one. Doing similar for us would be a much harder job.

Id be more than happy with Powell though.

How about Baden Powell

at least our scouting would improve
