Saw him score on his debut up at Saltergate (on a day trip from Plymouth). With his pedigree I thought we had just witnessed the birth of something amazing. Hmmm, football's a funny old game.

Yep, that was the very game I was at.

Won 2-1 and, unless I'm mistaken, Danny scored in about the 2nd minute.

I was there too and he scored from the "Alan Moody flick on from a corner" routine  And we beat Brentford away the following Monday too.

Was at that Brentford game, as well.

My memory of the Chesterfield match was Greaves scoring early on, but looking that game up, Terry Gray scored our opener.

Not long after those wins, we went on an undefeated run for about 3 months, though a lot of matches were drawn.

There's a tavern in the town, in the town,
where all the skinheads hang around, hang around................

His first appearance was 8 days earlier (a Friday night Home match) when he came on as a late sub v Bristol Rovers and scored the only goal! I remember it well.

We're all wrong, though 'Zeuss' is spot on about him coming on and scoring against Bristol Rovers.

He actually came on as sub the game before, at home to Plymouth.

I think, where I'm getting mixed up, is that Chesterfield was the first match he actually started.
