..and a number of shootings are classed as accidental.
Can a death caused by a gun, ever truly be accidental? I mean sure, the person squeezing the trigger may not have meant to kill, but quite simply, the gun was doing, what it was designed to do... Kill
Thats the difference with cars. They weren't designed as a killing tool. Used incorrectly, they of course, will kill. Whereas a gun, if used correctly will kill, but also being used incorrectly, will still kill.
The Cars argument has no credence, simply because you're comparing apples & oranges. Humans need cars for various different reasons, other than just personal/pleasure; the emergency services all rely on getting to places in a quick time; It's widened our network, so we can travel further-a-field for work; they allows shop & business owners to transport goods across hundreds of miles to replenish stock in shops; they bring jobs to machinists, mechanics, MOTers, recovery drivers, salesmen all across the world.
Guns kill. That is their sole purpose.
The number of people who die every year, due to deliberate & intentional use of a car, will pale in comparison to the number of people killed via a gun.
