Gillingham had a gang of four Managing until Justin Edinburgh arrived. I foretell Powell, Barratt, Tilson Taylor and Maher forging a new 5 man model Management group, with an additional 3 directors of football assisting with Helicopter visions and scouting

Yep and add Crowny in for striking coaching and we've got every area of the pitch covered.

Like the sound of all this, if PB does go, at some point.

Has Holdsworth been in touch with Brownie yet?

Ah, Gaz, glad you dropped in.

What gives with Neil Lennon, then and why wouldn't he be the right guy, with a bit of financial clout behind him?

Seems to be doing well enough with the loose change he's got to play with there.

Lennon? Not for me and I'd say he's very fortunate the fans haven't turned on him sooner to be honest, the only reason why they haven't is just because of all the turmoil we've had off the pitch. He signed quite a number of players in the summer, Amos, Pisano, Casado, Wilson, Prince(loan) Derik, Wellington(loan) Twardzick, Madine & Dobbie.

All of his signings have been absolutely shocking and I really wouldn't want Lennon to wreak any more havoc on our squad tbh.

Apart from his dreadful signings, his tactics and substitutions and his bingo machine which could mean players that were once frozen out like Spearing, they're suddenly back in favour.

The Scottish League is about Lennon's level, harsh but true.

Fair comment. Must be hard to win games with such a mess going on behind the scenes.

Got an ex-centre half of yours here.

Good signing for us.

Are you expecting Brown to go to Bolton? What exactly does the club have to make it worthwhile?

He'd be a very popular choice, he did briefly manage us on a caretaker basis years ago, (played 6 and won 4 and drew 1) but Gartside said he didn't have the necessary experience back then, but he's got plenty of that now.

We should be pretty much debt free once the Holdsworth consortium take over and they've promised funds to rebuild the squad, we also own our own stadium, hotel, Lostock training ground etc and we have one if not the best facilities currently outside of the premier.

Just out of curiosity, any idea what kind of salary Brownie is on? We're paying Lennon 650K pa and he's on a rolling contract and that's what it would cost to get shut of him.

With respect Gaz_BWFC, is that really true? Are Dean Holdsworth's consortium are going to pay off 192 million of debt, pay off the current manager, buy out the current owners, and provide the new manager with the sort of budget that will help ensure Bolton's place in the Championship? The new consortium must have deep pockets!

The only thing stopping PB going to Bolton is Ron's refusal to let Bolton speak to him.

De-coded, that may mean that Ron Martin will not allow Phil Brown to speak to Bolton until a realistic compensation package is on the table.

For once don't get impression RM thinking of the money. Don't know anyone that really knows RM but been told he is desperate for PB to stay.

Thanks, DTS. That is interesting. Yes, RM does seem to have a vision of Southend in the Championship with Phil Brown firmly at the helm.

By the way, and I am sure RM is relaying this message to Phil Brown, the job at Bolton will not be a bed of roses. As a former league player and manager himself, Dean Holdsworth is unlikely to keep his views on team selection and possible signings to himself. And it may be difficult for Phil Brown to work alongside that sort of Chairman.

Absolute rubbish. From someone very close to him, he is staying at Southend and has no intention of going to Bolton. If he wanted to go to Bolton, he would be asking Ron Martin to speak to them. That would leak out everywhere , especially from Phil Brown. He's always open and up front. He's also old school and extremely loyal from what I'm told.
You've gone from inside info, almost a done deal, to, oh, Southend are stopping them talking, otherwise he would be off to Bolton, Lol.
