Breaking News Francis offer accepted

Surely it's a good thing that some of the so-called "better players" (That should read better paid) are shipped off?

There's simply no option. If Barrett, Mildenhall, Francis and McCormack are each on an average of 2.5k per week and we have a wage budget of 1.4m (I think that's what Ron said this season's budget is) then those four players account for 37% of the wage budget (which has to stretch to 80 players, coaches and general staff).

If I'm mis-remembering and he said our budget is 2.4m then they still make up 22% between them.

Francis.Macca.Barrett.Moussa and Middleton. Not necessarily in that order and not necessarily on last season's performances alone either.
Grant and Scannell would also be on the better players list but I think they'll still be around next season.

Would certainly agree about Grant and Scannell (especially from his perfomances prior to his injury)...........there again, as you say, I'd expect them to be around next season. Forgotten about Moussa.......would prefer that he stayed around.......in spite of some of his performances last season.
As for the rest ??? Who's this Middleton? is that as in 'Middlehall'? .......or is the sun beating down ferociously in Barcelona as well?

Good, **** off, if you don't wanna play for Southend you can go fall asleep half a game somewhere else. Hope you do **** and break your legs.

Because he is a money grabbing little mug that doesn't care about Southend. SCUM

You're nice- aren't you!! NOT

Presume that you think any player that joins us from another club will also be a 'money grabbing little mug' - I really hope that nothing horrible befalls you if you ever change your job to better your income and improve life for your loved ones

Here Here. Great common sense! Haha! Mustard.

Thanks Franno. Some corking assists over your time - as well as a few clangers ;-)
A loss to the team, but not irreplaceable.
Finding a replacement will be quite easy IHMO, but attracting them to a tarnished club - thats another challange all together.

Good shout Tel !

Franno down , Barrett , macca and Mids to follow

We are due a clear out , it will be a hrd season but with teh right players and a bit of youth coming through i can see us pushing for promotion teh season after next

really feels like the end of an era now. especially if Barrett goes. I find myself reasonably excited about the prospect of a pretty much brand new southend squad. (thats if we make any signings). all of tillys up and downs all boil down to how well we do next season for me. (if he gets a reasonable league 2 budget).

Always liked franno, despite his obvious failings at the back. good luck to him, as for people saying hes a money grabbing scum bag who deserves to be injured?? words fail me...

I don't think it matters if Tilly sees a penny of the transfer fee or not. There's no way we should be looking at spending any money on transfers this summer with our financial problems. Every penny needs to be saved for next season unless people want another year of not paying wages and defending winding-up petitions.

The important thing is to get Francis, and other high earners, off the wage bill so that we can bring in replacements on free transfers for far less money. Francis was signed in the Championship. We can't justify paying a League Two player Championship money.

100% spot on. Francis was a good player/servant for us, but is by no means irreplaceable. Let him go for the greater good of the team, free up the wages, and recoup a transfer fee. Let the re-building commence, but with financial responsibility & prudence.

to be fair, if we sell Francis for £150k, get a clause on Hoops of £350k, and a say £200k on a Bailey sell on thats £700k, and thats without selling anyone else. Assuming we get just half of that to spend on players, thats £350k more than we've had to spend for the past 2 seasons!

Nice thoughts Davros but sadly I cant see us spending £350k in the summer or even £35k, and even if we could we would then have to service the wages etc.

Hopefully it will give Tilly a bit more of a wage budget as I really personally cant see us paying money for anyone? Cant recall the last player we actually paid for? Maybe JFC?

I think it might of been Zoltan Liptak....Which was back in 2007/08

More like Michael Ricketts with KFC !!!

Taking your logic if he were what you allege why didn't he go to Peterborough in January?

Also do you seriously wish injury on people?

He didn't go Peterborough because he didn't get a big enough signing on fee...FACT

He didn't care about Southend, sulked in training and had fallen out with Barrett just after the season had started whilst slating the younger players.

That isn't a FACT it's hearsay. As is point two for that matter unless you would like to show us some absolute proof.

And you didn't answer my question about wishing injury on players.

That's all rumour, particularly the second part, because that's the first I've heard of that despite some of the BS that gets posted on here.

From all your other posts, on this thread and others, It's clear you just don't like Francis and want to see him fail. The real FACT is that Simon hasn't been anything other than professional whilst with us and for that reason deserves our thanks and well wishes.
