Labour and the General Election

Ok, the link should take you to the BBC site and policy guide. I'll leave you to look at that at your leisure but I'll list below my preference's.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/manifesto-guide

For what its worth, my preference for each policy is:

Economy - UKIP
Immigration - UKIP
Health & Care - Conserative
Welfare - Conserative
Law & Order - Conserative
Education - UKIP
Housing - Conserative
Foreign & Defence - UKIP
Pensions - Conserative
Taxation - UKIP

Happy now?

Seeing bloody Russell Brand and blooming Steve Coogan publicly endorsing Labour is quite enough to make me vote against!

Yeah, because famous Tories like Simon Cowell, Gary Barlow, Paul Daniels and Jim Davison are much better.

I've not noticed them at the forefront this time around, we have the interview with Brand and then Coogan fronted their PPB this evening!

Seeing as Miliband has taken an absolute kicking across much of the Murdoch press, it's refreshing to see some comments in support of him being reported.

The Brand stuff is only being a big deal because Brand was already a big political deal due to his earlier comments.

Coogan is an interesting satirist and comedian and when it comes to 'real life' issues he talks a lot of sense. The support and work he put into the Leveson inquiry is something to be admired, no matter what your political view.

I'm sure you can find some links to add for your Sunday afternoon fishing trip.

You must be mistaking me for my old man.He was the big fishing fan.Not me.

Notice you haven't replied to that link I posted which states that NF is worth,at least, 3.45 million quid.

Link works fine.

Aren't Labour supposed to be the party of equality?

Actually, the link to the article in question doesn't work.

I'm sure you're aware that multi-culturalism doesn't mean treating all people exactly the same.

And I'm sure that you are aware that treating people equally means they are treated the same.
Or are you suggesting we sacrifice equality, for your version of Multi- culturalism?

Equality does not mean treating people the same, it refers to treating people according to their needs which may include cultural bias, something we have done in this country with varying results, largely successful.

Agreed.I've always thought we do it better than France, for example, where they do quaintly insist that all people are treated the same, whereas patently they're not (cf.as in the banlieus)

Jim Davidson actually tweeted yesterday that his fans should vote UKIP.

I bet all these champagne socialist celebrities saying we need to vote Labour to "save the NHS" use private healthcare. I'm sure they've never been unable to get a doctor's appointment.

So just for the record what Need was there there to separate, based on gender at Labours rally?

I could perhaps understand if it was ceremonial or a religious festival...it wasn't though.

I take it Miliband has now burned his 'This is what a feminist looks like t-shirt''.

Doubt if Miliband's a millionare though I suppose his house must be worth a bit.

(If you're digging, perhaps you could let us know something about the other leaders finances too?)

I know Labour have a reputation for profligacy in their finances, but it would be some achievement for him not to be a millionaire. Do you really think he's that bad?

For a start his Islington mansion alone will be worth a couple of million and he must have got a sizeable inheritance from his socialist father if it was worth employing tax avoidance measures for.

On top of that capital, his wife is a barrister at a business driven chambers, 39 Essex St, so between them I'd expect them to earn something like a quarter of a million a year. They must drink a lot of champagne not to be millionaires.

Yes, I'm taking a leaf out of your book on the subject of replying to certain things.

Thought EM lived in Highgate rather than Islington?

In any case, his house is worth 1.5 million according to the article GHG dug up yesterday.

Just for some political balance here's a link to Cameron's finances. He's worth over 30 million quid apparently!

Apologies, it's difficult to keep up with his property portfolio.

I think the £1.6m price tag was the price paid rather than the current valuation. It seems to be valued anywhere between £2.3m and £2.7m.

Camerons wealth is moot since the whole point is that Ed Miliband is supposed to lead the party that appeals to the poorer classes. How can he identify with the struggles of the poor person when he comes to the table as a multi-millionaire?

You must apply that argument to all of the major party leaders as they all profess to identify with the struggles of the poor person. Just goes to show that politics for some is a profession rather than a vocation of those that care.
