But you've obviously never seen Plodder play.It would be great if you signed him(he wouldn't cost you anything)at the end of this transfer window then his first and probably only game would be at the Hall and we'd get double figures.

Think that's harsh. He always gives 100 percent. He is just not as good as the other 3 centre half's we have. I think he could do a job for teams at the bottom of this league

Fully agree.

He has always given 100% for this club, even after the first couple of months when the level of abuse he was getting was shocking. He would always fight for everything. Literally putting his body on the line.

If we were in a relegation scrap, I would want him playing week in week out rather than some of the players we had under Tilson in the League 1 relegation season that just rolled over and died.

At the start of the season, you look at the 3 away games, and draws at Fleetwood, Doncaster and Coventry were pretty good results.

We did get taught a lesson by Walsall, but they have been in the top 2 or 3 all season, and then Swindon did a huge smash and grab on us, with from what I remember their only shot all afternoon.

Once we got that first win under our belts, other than the odd blip we have done really well, picking up 38 points from 22 games. I hope there is no reason why we cant continue that sort of form until the end of the season which should hopefully see us pick up another 30 odd points putting us somewhere in the early 70's.

If that is good enough to nick 5th or 6th spot then great, if not, then it wont be far off.

There is not a huge gap between League one and two, just look at the promoted teams, Burton top, us 9th, Bury 13th. Only Shrewbury have struggled. For anyone to think that we would be in a relegation struggle is at the start of the season is a little bit silly.

Listen pal, I don't come from the North of the County, you won't catch me out with that one. Whatever you may think Paul Smith is not a dodgy keeper, but he's yours for a knock down price of £20k. I won't stripe you on price.
I think he may be having a senior moment and is talking about Carl Emberson:winking:

We have only been relegated twice in the last 30 odd years Jai, once was the big one when we dropped out of the league in 1990 and the other was 2008 when we dropped out of the championship. Considering our gates that is pretty good going by various managers.

I agree, that really is some achievement - fair play.
I was having a look at teams in Championship who are struggling as well as the high flyers in league two, looking like some reduced petrol miles with any luck for next season. Can see us finishing outside play offs TBH but I've said all season that I would take 20th position.
Still think Paul Smith away at Brentford was without doubt the greatest goal keeping display by a Southend keeper in any game I've watched.

Theoretically we could be joined by Plymouth and Bristol Rovers next year (which would be fun if Bristol City are relegated to) ............. but there seems little hope of us being joined by Hartlepool and Carlisle!

Sadly, I wouldnt rule out Carlisle of the promotion race just yet, they are 3 points off the play offs with 3 games in hand on some others in the division 2 promotion race.

Can't agree with the sadly comment! For the pure away day traveler the further the better!!! That's the romance of it, for me anyway

Especially if the meter's running and it's gone midnight!!

It in increasingly looking like any four from seven.

A draw between Fleetwood and Shrewsbury did neither side any favours .......... and Chesterfield lost at the weekend.

Blackpool's game was postponed - we still have to play them away so that could be interesting.

And Swindon's run of good results is coming to an end as well so it's not implausible to think that they could end up being dragged into the mire as well.
