The offside goal wasnt that shabby tho...

His finish was exquisite-the only reason he was offside was because Payne, criminally, delayed the vital pass but most shrimperzoners would never criticise anybody vaguely local when there is the chance to pick on someone who came from local rivals.

Ah - there you are Jonny.

It is true you did warn us of Mooney's limitations.

But then he (Mooney) has done a job for us so far ......... we have stabilised in the division and look to be avoiding relegation and he was part of the team that achieved that ......... so despite Mooney being offside more times than any other player we have had this century I have no real complaints.

I believe Mooney will come good with goals and finish the season as a cult hero. He will be offered double his wage by another club and there will be endless threads on why we let him go and stats to prove that he would be the answer to all our problems.

Don't say it could never happen because he is on six goals at the moment. The same as a well known forward was on, this time last season.

Indeed - you've done very well all told. Had you pegged for about 15th, so to be in genuine playoff contention over half way through the season is good going. Been a bit of a feature in your absence that 6th has been up for grabs until May, with the top four or five gallivanting off into the distance by early March. Seems to be happening again. Still think you lack the necessary quality in the final third to make top 6, but I believe I was wrong about something in 2008 or thereabouts, so it's about time it happened again.

Why would we look to offload? Assuming Ronald is happy with the wage bill, we have 3 experienced strikers in Barnett, Hunt and Mooney -with young Jack making the 10 his own.

With Wordsworth and McLaughlin due back, and the recent loan signings, we actually have depth in every position. We can almost deal with injuries to any position, and I'm extremely optimistic with regards to the rest of the season.

Mooney hasn't set the world alight, but he has contributed some big performances. I think back to the game on sky when his link up play with Hunt was frightening (Peterborough perhaps?) Also the goals at Coventry (I think). He has fitted in nicely with no dramas.

There was a poll on Luke, would he make the starting 11 if all players were available, if that question is put against Mooney how many would put him in the starting 11? My guess is very few.
Is he a high earner/paid player in the squad? my guess is yes?
If Barnett, Hunt, Lozar, Payne, Worrall, McLaughlin and Weston are fit would Mooney make the matchday squad? possibly.
Could we (SUFC) make better use of the funds tied up in Mooney?

I believe we should loan ASAP and cancel contract if possible at the end of the season.

Mooney gets a start against Shrews but it didn't sound like he did anything before he was subbed. TBF it sounded like poor from everyone bar Dan; but Barnett can't be worried about not getting his start again on Saturday. What will PB be concluding regards Mooney?

Except maybe BBBC? I love BBBC, but he was off side more times than we had attacks.

The best we looked early season was when Mooney had Hunt alongside him.

It has not fully worked out for him yet. Unless he improves his scoring record and offside ratio I suspect he will move on when his contract ends but he may still play a part and does give 100%.

Mooney was very poor at Shewsbury last night. Loza did far more in just over 20 mins. I'd be really tempted to start with Barnett and Loza on Saturday.

I wouldn't give Mooney any more 1st team footy, he has been consistently poor all season, rather give one of our youngsters a decent run of games !
