Can honestly say your post didn't bother me in the least, I'm just pleased someone knows something about what's going on. And it's entirely sensible not to give all the details for all sorts of reasons. You obviously have closer ties to the club than most of us and I'm grateful for any news, so please don't hold back on my account!

And me. Pleased to hear that Ranger hasn't gone walk about as well.

I think I can say with some certainty that Nile Ranger will resurface and his future intentions will be known. The speculation merely fuels further speculation. Our time might be better spent basking in the warm glow of victory and by hoping we can repeat that success tonight. Ranger had no hand in our win over Blackburn and I seriously doubt he will have any part in our efforts this evening. I hope Nile gets to realise his footballing potential and that in time he becomes famous for on field performances and not off field shenanigans. Until we know for sure, what has occurred, I will not bother contemplating the possibilities. Got enough to do keeping everything crossed for tonight.

For me, the dynamic has changed. It's great that the onus is now only on Nile to get himself out and settled, then fight his way back into the team, rather than us looking to him as a talisman as we may have done in the past. I still have hopes that he'll make a significant contribution but right now, the ball is entirely in his court. That's a good place to be given all that's happened.

The Southend United ship is moving on. Up to Nile now to prove he wants to join us all on it.

And at no time on Saturday did I think we were missing him.

He had a big impact last season but we started last season with Mooney, Williams and an out of sorts Simon Cox. Cox has now found his feet and MAF is showing what a true professional can achieve. I have not seen Ba play yet but he sounds like he has potential.

A fully fit a motivated Ranger will no doubt add something to our squad but with the likes of Kightly, Wordsworth (when fit), McGlaughlin, and McGlashen offering attacking support from midfield I believe we can also be successful without him.

That's not the same argument. Bolt is 100% male. Semenya is both male and female. It has been reported that she has enough on her male side to be able to switch to competing against men in the future if she wishes. She also married a woman.

Funny because did. But only for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half when we struggled to hold onto the ball up front.

No we did fine without him for sure, although at times MAF was struggling to hold the ball up at times and we were struggling to keep hold of it.

Problem is, take MAF out with an injury and suddenly we have no replacement who can play the big man role, which I think is what every one of the other strikers need to play alongside.

Maybe, although I am not sure he would have made much difference. Blackburn played very well in that spell and was the only time that made a really concerted effort to attack.

I thought MAF was quiet in the first half and a little surprised when Cox was taken off instead of him. After that though MAF's close control and hold up play was excellent and a major factor in us closing out the game on top. I very much doubt Ranger could have held the ball up any better.

I do, he's much stronger. He's also better in the air. Also, as Jam_Man says, we don't really have any cover for MAF should he be injured, so for now we can get away with it, but that may not always be the case.

I agree there is still a role for Ranger and I hope he can finally realise his potential. I don't though think he is as pivotal to our team as he was last year.

If Ranger comes back and stays fit all season he will be first name on the team sheet . Why ? Because he's a proven nightmare to play against . Naturally he's way too good for this level and if he can stay switched on the only is up for him

Let's just be clear about something; Ranger is one of the most talented individuals we have at the club. If his focus is spot on, he is the best player, perhaps now with the exception of Kightly (the thought of both playing and firing on all cylinders is the stuff dreams are made of!). If his focus is "off", then he is still a good enough to make the 11 (assuming the focus isn't completely "off").

Anyone who has witnessed one of Rangers better games will know what I've said is true....

Your assessment of Ranger at his best is spot on. But, by his own admission, he is not the best trainer in the world and the added baggage of just coming out of the nick could make his journey to achieve his best this season just too hard for him. I really hope I'm wrong.

He will be the best super sub outside the premiership this season

The quality of football we played on Saturday was excellent - and that was in large parts down to the intelligent off the ball running into space from MAF . If Ranger was playing , i can absolutely guarantee we would have instead continually resorted to lobbing high balls up to Rangers head. Now dont get me wrong , he's very very good at winning headers i'm just saying the whole style of our play changes depending on our strikeforce. Ranger coming on for the last 20 minutes in a game would IMHO be just perfect.

I can agree that his career could be derailed very fast if he embarks on another downward spiral. To me, the jail thing was related to something he committed before he joined the club and as such is not something I hold against him (not that I condone his actions) or his time with us. I would like to think that he will return focused and only behind on fitness....I accept this might not be the case and we may end up parting ways.

However, for anyone to try and give it the old "his ability wont be missed", or "we probably have better in player x", or even "we can get better options brought in" are sorely mistaken on all counts.

I get what you're saying but the guy is a liability and will (nearly every season) play about 20 odd games because of his attitude. He was given a 3 half year contract, been here nearly a year and played a hat full of games.

Based on the above and the length of contract and the money we're paying him and what we're actually getting from him, I'd say yes we can get better for our money.

In League 1? Unlikely. When he's on his game he's a top end Championship player.

IMHO he's got one more chance to turn his life around, and we'd be fools not to let him try and rehabilitate himself with us. It's a win-win situation in my eyes.

So you think he's value for money?

What the hell are you lot babbling on about.

From Ranger to Sandi Toksvig.

Has Hitler been mentioned yet?

I think people get frustrated and even envious when people in the know mention things.

I never see anyone gloating about knowing.

Its like the thread about the kits we had people (person) having a pop at Ricey because he knew the sponsor was changing.

Sometimes people know things others dont, I used to have a contact in the club who passed me information for example, it just happens. Sadly my contact left though :)

Good point, he allegedly only had one ball so would that affect his testosterone levels? Did Churchill with his 2 balls have an unfair advantage?
