What is the benefit for the dreaded 'vote of confidence' for chairman? Obviously is a thing but I don't get it tbh. Surely just makes fans not believe a word you say going forward.
Of course not, but you don't need to say 'MM will be here at the season' like he did. Obviously there was a reason he said, just wondering why. He's hardly on a zoom call with fans going to go "Actually I was snapchatting Phil earlier, I'm kinda tempted hehe.."
It's annoying but he has to publically back his manager. For what's it worth, I imagine that Ron had red flags and mind was semi made up after we went 17 games without a win at the start of season. That ties in with the timings Phil sort of stated here.

Re: post above, yep I get football is ruthless. Ron's ruthlessness is really going well though isn't it...
Yeah fair play.Very true, Ron always deals in absolutes, which inevitably comes back to bite him.
I dunno, I think I maybe have just got used to Ron's patter. So now know whats what with him and can see through it.
This is disgusting imo. To offer Brown the job months ago, and then to publicly back MM like that only weeks ago. Wow.

Nothing that chairmen havent been doing for years. Performance related cutthroat industry. Hes hardly gonna tell mm is he.This is disgusting imo. To offer Brown the job months ago, and then to publicly back MM like that only weeks ago. Wow.
We get that Ron is the anti-Christ is to be despised whatever he does. Many on here are moaning that if he was going to do something he should have done something earlier. Now it’s apparent he was considering doing exactly that it’s “disgusting”. For his many faults if anything Ron indeed sticks with managers too long. We all know how it works. Managers get sacked all the time, and the replacement is lined up in the background. Ron in the past has been critised for not having replacements ready to go- now...well he’s being criticised for having someone lined up in the background..This is disgusting imo. Good...Here, here. Oldham 2-0 up at halftime. Something to go on at least

The real weakness is ron hanging on all this time with someone he didnt want.
Huge difference between proactively making the change at a more appropriate point in the season and just considering it though. That is frustrating to me and worthy of criticism. We get that Ron is the anti-Christ is to be despised whatever he does. We are all very very aware that the chairman’s vote of confidence in football is worth very little.
The only surprise here is that there is surprise, or that Ron has done anything unforgivable in relation to what is pretty much par for the course in football.
