Official Match Thread Dartford v Southend United, Saturday 31 July @ 15:00

And the earlier comment of 'doesn't leave the ground'.
A few observations.

Seadon….had plenty of chances, shapes up well, then it all goes wrong.
Norwich bloke, sign him up.
QPR bloke, poor mans Acquah, surely not?
Murphy….good player
Holmes, looked the youngest one out there, good corners and free kicks
Rush….great little player, will move a lot higher in time.
Louis Walsh….electric pace, athletic and like Seadon, end product is rubbish
Dolby….shapes up well, nice touch and lay offs.

Makes you wonder if pbs put this team out and said prove to me your good enough to stay.

Expect half of em will be out on loan in the near future.

It was odd playing Stewart and Ferguson together as the both wanted to play from in front of the back four- certainly not get forward. Ferguson definitely has something but he is not someone PB would have signed- not his sort of player. Be interesting to see how that develops- can he get Ferguson going a bit more box to box. For a period of 10 mins he came a live a bit and he can certainly pass short and long.

The thing we most need is creativity in the last third. Holmes turned things around in that department. Dennis looked similarly like some one who will run at people and make things happen - we need both signed up.
I had forgotten about Gard but he looked lively when he came on and if he can get back to his best he would be close to playing- and he is mother he likes to get forward.

So we didn’t learn a lot today but what we did was on balance probably positive

Holmes will be soon…

Not too ecstatic about today but good to test ourselves against a side close to the quality we'll face this season. We still have lots of work to do.

It was our u23s largely until the last 20-30 mins. After which were on top. So very difficult to read too much into it other than our u23’s could compete in the Conf South.

Suspect Brentford midweek will now heavily feature the “senior” players
