Official Match Thread Dartford v Southend United, Saturday 31 July @ 15:00

Do you reckon another covid scare in the squad? Only explanation I can think of for this lineup

HT
We have learned our U23s are a par for Dartford (probably)...
Difficult to judge Dalby. No service but has put himself about and looks good on the ball. Rush runs around a lot but we know he thrives in the box and we are putting not a lot in there.
Howard ok but Demi won’t be shaking in his boots.
On u23s who has probably put his hand up to some degree is Stewart. But positioning not alway great.
I worry about PB’s blood pressure this early in the season- for that reason I think we will see changes before he injured himself further slapping the top of the dugout.

Ropey start by us. Obviously I recognise that this won’t be our starting XI, thank Christ.

Dartford have looked lively in places and have torn us apart a few times.

New guy, Dalby, looks handy. We need to give him time, because I think he’ll be a decent acquisition.

Rush has been the standout for me. The kid is mustard in my book.

Stewart’s goal was well taken. I thought he’d bottled it at first, as he had to take a touch, then another touch, but a decent strike eventually materialised.

It was never a penalty, straight 50:50 challenge in my eyes. Seaden was brave as ****, and took the ball and the player.

Dartford fans are a bit odd. A small following behind their goal making some noise, but some are wearing Arsenal shirts, talking about how much they hate Southend. Seems reasonable.

I assume we will put out a stronger side for Brentford on Wednesday.

Kargbo on so big but doesn’t seem to leave the ground
Holmes on - good sign
