Why is this Ron, Tom is our CEO making the decisions. I’m sure the question of remit or duration, Stan can’t be the messiah he talked about a manager becoming and Stan might of said I will do it for 18 months and the club wants 1 season.

Who knows, it will all come out if he signs up or not. Im sure the plan Stan talked about will be implemented somehow.

For me the most important thing is the structure of the club and only the structure in order to avoid any individual having undue influence at the club ever again. I want to protect the club at all costs.
@StanleyVictorCollymore - genuine and respectful question: is there a possibility that the sheer breadth of roles and responsibilities you’d be assuming could make the club overly dependent on you on that basis?

Feels to me Stan has for the first time in many years created a link between the club and the fans. It has felt like a breath of fresh air and I’ve felt involved in my club for the first time in a long time.

If that link is severed again, feel this would be a massive step backwards in the club’s progression. Would feel like we are back in the gutter with Ron pulling all the strings again. Somewhere I really don’t want to be!!

Let’s not get over excited.
The statement isn’t “miles apart” which would be most worrying.
“Distance apart” suggests some meaningful differences but differences that can be addressed.
I note the comment about being very clear on roles and responsibilities for the benefit of both parties.
This is likely to mean more discussions and hard miles now, but with the benefit of avoiding a World of pain later.
Let the parties get on with it and take the time to get it right.

Relax.

Just negotiation init.

Strange that Tom would join a fan zoom without agreeing a deal before though? Bad work on his behalf. Smart work from Stan to get him on their though, makes his position to get more stronger than if he was running it alone.

Don’t think we should over and offer Stan more than we can afford (it’s what got us in this mess)

I’m sure they’ll end up meeting in the middle and everyone can go back to being happy.

Today was meant to be the day that it was all finalised and announced. Imagine the uproar if there was no announcement or any update today.

We all want transparency and to hear what is happening with the club, then moan when we don't hear what we want to hear.
Could have said, negotiations are still taking place…

To be fair to Ron I don't think Stan has mentioned him. It may well be the role that Tom and Ron see Stan completing is different to what Stan envisages. Hopefully some form of compromise can be found so that all parties are happy with the outcome. It would be great to see Stan continue the great work that he looks to have started and I’m sure he would like to start getting his teeth into a role that can provide real tangible opportunities for Southend on and off the pitch.

Just to add devil’s advocate though there was a list of 18 candidates for the roles (supplied mainly by Stan) and the best 3 for the roles were selected. They were selected on their interview technique, their knowledge and their experience. The fact that 2 of them are past players is an added bonus.

To be fair, open and transparent if a role of "Head of Football Operations" is created should this also go out to an interview process with candidates applying and the best candidate for the role gets selected?

I do think that Stan should get recognition and reward for his sterling efforts so far. How much he has achieved in 5 short months is nothing short of remarkable. He has pretty much provided a CEO, and has now helped to change the structure of the club in such a way that it should now be able to adapt better to the newer modern way of coaching and man management of players.

If not a permanent role, then perhaps some form of consulting role on an ad-hoc basis. I'd like the club to recognise his sterling efforts to date and pay him accordingly. Stans level of enthusiasm for this club is off the scale and brings a feel good factor back to the club that has been sorely missing for several years.

Think Ron went out for a Currie (Darren) in his new Bentley (Mark) last night. He obviously had a nightMaher later on that the club was about to be run properly !

Let's hope the negotiations work out for Stan and the club

UTB !

What is wrong with the club ensuring the get the best value for a service? How does anyone know Stan is asking for a fair rate etc?
