In December 2018 Phil Brown was appointed head coach of Indian Super League side Pune City which became Hyderbad FC. In January 2020 he was sacked after just 1 win in 12 matches in the 2019-2020 season. It appears that Brown of late makes a habit of losing football matches. Before this he was at Swindon Town for a short period. It seems that Ron Martin being so busy on his plans for Fossets Farm, did little DD, but took the easy opition as he knew him from his first period with SUFC.

So where has this left us, a group of young men or old players well past their prime and injury prone. Little in the mid range age group. No doubt being out of the country Brown lost touch somewhat with who was who. Please view Brown's last filmed interview on the Southend United internet site. He openly admitted he was unsure about much, also he is wearing a wool hat, in a strange way, on the back of his head, as if he didn't give an F - - - ! it was as if he knew he was a dead man walking. No doubt he will get a good payout for his trouble.

So what now? If Ron and Tom don't take up Stan's offer with his contacts and love for the club it will not be forgiven by so many supporters.

Best wishes to Kevin and Co. you have so much to do.

We the fans? You speak for us all? Clearly not for me. I'm ok with Stan having a role IF the club want him. I'm not excited at the prospect but the decision is not mine to make. So many fans are getting too carried away. If Stan gets the job he will have the cleanest ring in Christendom.
I suppose you're more excited at the prospect of continuing on the way we are then. We need change now and if you have been paying attention Stan has giving a detailed description as to how to move forward.

Nope. I recognise the need for change and have done for years. Yes Stan has given a detailed description of how he thinks we should move forward. He may be right. As yet his dream of the way forward is unproven but people are basically begging him to be involved. He has called for some changes and Ron appears to have listened for the most part. I have seen TL arrive who may have without Stan's endorsement and our new coaching line up, all of whom were named by fans for ages.
Stan may be the catalyst of change, good or bad we will see.

Looking at the Grimsby lineup yesterday and keeping this strictly factual, four of the regulars from the side of last season were included in the starting line up, another was a sub, the club captain, Coke. Two more of the new signings, namely Sears and McAtee were with Paul Hurst at Shrewsbury, and he is on record of 'being aware' of Crookes, so no doubt the manager was instrumental in getting them in. The change of ownership obviously helped as well and it is interesting that the Mariners Trust hold a 14% stake in the club

Yes quite accurate and as you point out Hursts contacts certainly seemed to help, So hopefully our 3 coaches have a good insight around who might be available

They did have a big turnover, I guess thats a big thing with 14 out and 12 IN

Interesting , they brought in 4 young loanees, 2 defenders, from Aston Villa and Bristol City ( Towler- who played 4 games in the Championship previously ) a midfielder in Hurst ( Sheff wed ) aged 21 and winger Babaya from Coventry.

sharpened up defence and midfield with loanees as above

, Only fee paid for Mc Atee, 21 year old forward that Hurst knew of ( point 3 )

Further strengthening of midfield and defence in Fox, ( 23 ) from Burton, another midfielder, free, Crookes (23 ) left back from Port Vale,
Effete (24) defender, Wealdstone free, prime age defenders from league 1/2 plus lower league

Wealdstone, winger Grant from Swindon, Sousa winger , Darlington, Taylor , striker Newport Again a mix of league and lower

Why oh why didn't we do everything we're doing now in the summer, before PB brought in the players he did?

Completely disagree.

Haven't got the time or inclination to post 10 pars again but I'm happy to invite you to Roots Hall one afternoon, and show you point by point which counters every argument you've made with proven, statistical analysis of free agents, how many, where they're located, U-23's, how many loans they've had, which clubs are looking to have their 23's play at clubs, which divisions they'd like those players to play in, etc etc.

Every single point you've made I can and will counter with facts and only facts and this speculating, guessing and frankly uniformed stream of consciousness is just unhelpful and feeds a few on here who spout "ALL WE NEED IS SLEEVES ROLLED UP AND GRAFT " nonsense.

An open invite which will completely change your mind on how football clubs progress in 2021.
Stick a £10 door charge on this and open the room to those who fancy an insight. Even at that price, it's a bargain compared to the prices you'd need to pay to hear a piece like this at a conference or summit.

Many thanks for the invite which I am unable to take you up on as I live a few thousand miles away from Roots Hall, and, in a part of the world where travel is, at the moment, severely curtailed.
Thank you for explaining to me that I am wrong in my belief about the number and quality of players that may be available. I can be persuaded but I have found in life there dangers in accepting things at face value. Equally, my mind is always open and I am more than happy to consider new ideas and ways of thinking.
Call me uninformed and unhelpful if you will. It does not bother me and I have always insisted in thinking for myself, and, have been able to lead a relatively successful and contented life as result.
I do not belong to the "ALL WE NEED IS SLEEVES ROLLED UP AND GRAFT " brigade and I was very much opposed to the Brown appointment and the way he operated. I copped a lot on here for saying that at the time he was popular ie before the results turned bad.
I confess I do always fret about Southend living beyond their means and the potential costs of these initiatives being proposed does give me cause for thought.
There is something else also....if, as you say, this is how clubs progress in 2021 once too many clubs are doing the same then any comparative advantage must be lost, and, then where are we? The nature of football is most fail as most fans are disastisfied with a mid table finish. Even if all clubs were well run and solvent someone would still finish bottom of the table.
But I do not wish to carp, and, I do sincerely thank you for engaging with me and for your invitation which, as already noted, it is impossible for me to take up.
Some months ago I did say on here until the club was run properly off the pitch the chances of success on it were slim.
In this respect great strides and improvements have recently been made, and, much of that has been driven by your involvement, and I do sincerely appreciate and respect your efforts in this regard.
Respect is important but if there is one thing I have learned in life is that no one can demand respect. It has to be freely given, and, it is because it is a gift of the individual is why it is so important.
However, because I appreciate most of what you have done for the club and respect you for, it does it mean I will always agree with you? It does not and I will continue to consider each issue on its merits before making up my mind.

Stan we seem to be plagued with a lot of player injuries . Do you think some injuries are down to the previous set up in training or lack of proper injury treatment.
Also I presume the new coaches will have a more structured program (no punishment 10 milers ) . And has the club previously been treating some of these injuries correctly , without enough qualified help ? Has this compounded the injuries of some of our players.

By crikey! Some people really are dramatic. Stop watching the reruns of Poldark and switch over to Nickelodeon.
Stan will stay on or he won't. The world will keep on turning and The Blues will merrily wend their way in one direction or another.
You don't need Stan you need Valium
I am putting across a point that this club imo, would be a whole lot better of with Stanley in its employment than not. If Stanley was not with us we properly would still have Phill brown in charge and heading for the league below at a faster rate of knots.

Have to say I like Stan, always have, best footballer I’ve seen at RH. When he mentioned Hillsborough and the hairs standing up on the back of his neck, mine did again! We’re so lucky to have such a passionate supported of our club, I don’t doubt his commitment for a moment. Unlike a lot of supporters for me there is no but, we will be so much better with him, so fingers crossed that he gets the appointment he deserves, and we, as a club, need. If it doesn’t work out; remember respect the man, please.

The hat made him look like an elf, so maybe he knew the writing was on the wall and was auditioning for some seasonal work

Do we know when negotiations will continue this week? Would love to see this resolved one way or another as soon as possible so the club can move forward.

The sooner this is resolved the better, then everyone can focus on looking forward. Until then speculation will continue and everyone at he club will continue to be unsettled. Stan suggested negotiations will continue this week... let's hope its soon rather than later. Though to be fair, Stans mother is unwell and that has to be his priority.
