Love it when neutral reports are as generous as this....

Soccernet: Southend v Rushden report

"Southend 3-0 Rushden & D'monds: FT Report

Kevin Maher's first goal of the season pointed the way to an emphatic 3-0 victory for Southend against Rushden which added impetus to their promotion challenge.

The midfielder struck from the edge of the box with a low drive following a cross from Lewis Hunt.

Andy Edwards, playing against his former club, increased Southend's lead in the 59th minute when he stabbed in from close range after a Maher free kick had caused mayhem in the Rushden box.

Mark Bentley completed the scoring in stoppage time with a close-range header and it was only after Southend had gone two goals up that Rushden posed any threat.

A couple of fine saves from Bart Griemink prevented David Bell and Andy Burgess getting on the score-sheet. "
