Wish him all the best if this is the case, model pro, decent man and has been an excellent club captain during his time here.

Definetly. Don't doubt we can bring in others who are better ( Embargo permitting ) but more time would have sufficed for the get-to-know-you and your game period. No disrespect but I would have thought Barker would have been released a lot sooner if there was any indication he was going to be let go of.

Yes I take that jam but with the season so close now you#ll want some sort of cohesion developing with the new guys. In some ways I think the tour is late. Maybe there were no other other possible dates but travelling less than 2 weeks before kick off to me seems the gelling in thing will be too rushed, Then theres the embargo thing but then you can have a squad of up to 20. So if there are like for like moves in an ideal world you'd have hoped things would have been done sooner. I appreciate you can get away with this at Prem level as the standeard is that good but this is L2.

They have been back in training for some time now and there is still over a week to go. The squad is pretty stable anyway, the core remaining fairly consistent and whilst a couple of extra will come in the overall build wont be drastically different.

Nothing unusual in the odd player leaving and arriving right up to kick off (and well beyond).

It's all a bit strange. Looks from the outside that the club have made a bit of a **** up here and perhaps expected to be able to sign a few more, no problems. It would however appear that the FL are not happy at all and are sticking to the laws to the letter.

If Barker goes, then presuming we are allowed a max of 20, then that leaves 1 spot for Bennett or perhaps Clifford or Cowan. Certainly not all of them.

In short, if we want anymore to come in, then others as well as Barker need to leave, probably permanently. Unless allowing a couple to go on season long loans provides a loophole for us.

Yep well said. If the odd one comes in fine. but if we have two or three still to sign on the dotted line then they'll have to get acquainted pretty quickly.

Maybe were going to tactically come out of an embargo soon?

Very strange.

Why did it take Brown until Sunday to realise that Barker wasn't part of his plans?

Anyway, he's still here until we find someone to take him off of our wage bill. Just because he's on trial on Hereford doesn't mean he's going there.

Naming John White as captain means he's gone.

Barker is only here because an extension was automatically triggered. He's off.

No, he's here until we can find someone willing to take him off our wage books. Like Barker jogging back that may take some time.

One thing knowing you don't want him and another thing being able to move him on.

@SUFCRootsHall: Interview with Phil Brown to come. Talks about the captaincy and Chris Barker's current situation.

Would be a good move for him as his family are based in Wales still. An honest pro and put a shift in while he was here so can't complain.

Echo this comment. Probably best he dropped down a level to prolong his career.

Brown: "Chris Barker is a great lad, but just feel it may be time for him to move on and see how he does with Hereford. We'll see how he does there. There's still the possibility he could be back with us when we get back from Madrid."
