Dirty Leeds are always a bit of fun! :winking:

Leeds are scum, but they sang for 90 mins and about half an hour before the game last few times we played them.
They were bloody good.... Scum bags!

I agree with that much though it pains me to do so . It seemed compulsory that every single one of them had to stand and had to sing for the entire match and before the match. Remember laughing as they replied to ' you dirty northern xxxx' with ' you south southern xxxx' when one of our players was taken down

maybe not the best fans. But the banter with Lincoln for the last game of the season when we were both relegated regardless of the result was entertaining. The North bank was split with both sets of fans close to each other. Both sides were poor (being generous)and I recall chorus after chorus of 'thats why your going down' from each set of fans as the opposing team screwed up something new

What season was this??

Think it was "soft southern xxxx" actually!

I went to away game , stadium of light was bloody noisy too
I went to a lot of away games that season, but missed that one. I remember the home game when we were 3-1 up and chanting 'can we play you every week' - good times. Their fans carried on singing until the end though, fair play.

Hull about 2000, near the end of the season they had been in the duldrums for years but were going for the playoffs brought about 1000 for a tuesday night and sung for 90 minute's.

Worst ever was colu 2007 in the Championship they were having the best season in their pathetic clubs history, it was Good Friday and they barely brought a 1000 and hardly made any noise. They beat us 3-0 but as it was a live TV game most of their fans watched it on TV. Contrast that to the previous year when we sold our full allocation to their toilet amd had another 2000 at Roots Hall watching on beamback.

Barnsley during the days of the miners' strike in '84........ very hot day , some of the biggest blokes I'e ever seen, bare chests, NUM Donkey jackets and massive steel cap boots .

Not at Southend though? Only played Barnsley in 1980 and not again until 1991.

Hard to know that one as we never had segregation until the late 1980's and no real records are kept of away support. I'm sure when used to play Fridays some of the away support was probably as low as 15 maybe lower?

Been to a number of Southend away games with less than 15 away supporters there!

Yep same here.
I cant remember the last League away game where we had less than 100 fans, Hartlepool away on a Tuesday night in Dec 2005 we only had 115 that is the lowest I can remember in recent seasons.

Remember the promotion season 71-72..went to every away game with Brother Grimm,...most games we only took 1 coach..even,if i remember, 1 coach to theTuesday!! night away game v Scuni, the night we got promoted...we took 2 coaches to Southport, easter monday!! i think some older Leigh comm lads came by car...
