Latest Rumours Bradley Johnson from Leeds?

Just heard via Sky Sports we have had a bid turned down by Leeds for one of their players. Anyone got any details?

We had a bid turned down for Bradley Johnson who according to Sky is a midfielder. Not sure what we offered though.

Millwall also had a bid rejected for him - dont want to get into a bidding war and pay over the odds. I still hope we are doing all we can to sign Sawyer from Chelsea. Maybe if we beat them on Wednesday that might give him a bit of belief that its ok to drop a couple of divisions.

Leeds' £1.5m rated midfielder Bradley Johnson is set to put in a transfer request, alerting QPR, Bristol City and Southampton.
He was sent on loan to Brighton by Gary McAllister, but new Leeds boss Simon Grayson has also been less than welcoming on his return.

Central Midfielder who can play on the left...

Leeds bought him for £250k, so I guess they will be looking for something near that.

Great player, but think he will head to a Championship club or one of the richer clubs in League One like Leicester/MK Dons etc.

Good ploy but getting over used now. Blues get linked to players they could and would never sign in a million years and then Tilly and Ron can say we tried to sign this one and that one but they did not want to come. Then we sign someone from Eastwood second string, our supporters are grateful for a signing and then post endlessly about how the new player could be another 'Eastwood'. How many seasons have we been on this merry-go-round?

Christophe, Grant, Freedman... all recent signings. Two from the premier league one from the Championship who was apparently 'out of our reach.'

Spin things if you like but don't hide facts at the same time. Of course we'll make bids for players that won't be accepted and believe it or not they'll be players that don't think coming to Southend is their best option. This shouldn't be a surprise and definitely isn't some kind of grand conspiracy.

I'm just pleased we are going in for players of that quality. Shows Tilly knows what he is doing and is not in a rush to fill the squad up with players that wont really improve it. Of course we are going to get knock backs trying to land better players, but the ball is rolling and who knows me may improve our offer and bag him...

Surely his wages are too high? Cant see him turning down a championship club for us either. Its good to see we are going for high quality players though I agree with that.

If the guy's unsettled at Leeds then why not test the water? Sawyer's far too good for us too, but whether or not it ends up happening it's clear that there were times when he would certainly have been prepared to consider a move here. He might do yet.

Robinho to Man City is another example of what can happen if a player ismply wants to escape his current surroundings.

Good news, shows we are ready to buy quality players and that we have some transfer budget. Really hope we get Sawyer and a left midfielder.

Sounds like a good potential signing. Nice to see we are staying active in the transfer window but would be nice to see us trying or signing defenders!

As others have mentioned, how many times in the windows do we try to sign players out of our reach then you'll see quotes in the Echo like "we couldn't compete - tried our best etc".

Its like trying to sign Robinho and going "oh, we came up a bit short".
