C2C

They promise us all these things, but they fail to provide it for us.

So what about Northampton and Birmingham, we're no where near those places so why should we care and even help them? Its the companies themselves, who should provide carraiges, not pinch them from other routes.

They should know that they have to have 8 carraiges during the rush hour, because they know how packed it is on them. 4 is just taking the **** a bit.

I think it's really cheeky of the company to do this, and luckily for me, I dont have to use these trains anymore.

Dear Mr Raffaelli

Thank you for contacting us.

I was sorry to learn of your concerns regarding the recent amendments to the
timetable.
These changes have been made in agreement with the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA). The trains released as a result of these changes will enable the SRA to provide much needed capacity on a route between Northampton and Birmingham. We do appreciate however that this is of little comfort to c2c passengers.

In assessing crowding on trains we use guidelines laid down by the SRA and I can assure you that even with these changes the train capacity we are providing in the peak period is well within the SRA guidelines.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. Please be assured of our commitment to providing our customers with the best possible service.

Yours sincerely

Helen Wilson

This is exactly the sort of flannel I get. I once complained that I got on the wrong train because the departure board was displaying the wrong information and Helen Wilson replied saying that the responsibility boarding the correct train lies with the passenger!

What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to treat all information displayed at Fenchurch street as potentially suspect? Do I knock on the drivers door and ask him what stations he is going to stop at?

Inspired by the film Gandhi I began a campaign of non violent protest against C2C by writing a letter of complaint every time I felt that the level of service I had received fell short of what I had paid for.

For a while I really did believe that one angry man could make a difference......

Where did it get me?

Nowhere.

Now things are going to change.

Inspired by the films American ninja IV and No retreat, no surrender 3 I say that we commandeer a C2C train, drive it up to Birmingham and take our carriages back by force.

Who's in with me?

Count me in, Cyril.

We'll have to do it during daylight hours though. Not sure my steering would be good enough to keep the wheels on those narrow rails in the dark.

I was clearing out the loft last night and happened to come across 12 SAS-style black jump suits, and 8 AK-47's, along with various useful items including night vision goggles and gasmasks. Would they be useful to you?

I would come with you, but I'm allergic to Birmingham.

How would you hijack a train with a Playboy centrefold?

As the old phrase goes with regards to the "workling classes rising", and I admit guilt,

The Revolution starts at closing time.

This morning the 8.14 from Rayleigh was a new C2C train.
Even the rolling stock is not safe from some people.

Sounds like a plot-line from the A-Team / Knight Rider / Baywatch. Count me in as Ms. Anderson's personal brassiere ironer...

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr ! I've also travelled home to Rayleigh on white obviously ex WAGN Stansted rolling stock three times in the last few weeks. It seems to me that the rolling stock shortage isn't only limited to C2C.

National Express have no plans to merge the Liv St and Fenchurch St operations, yea right !

Yeah, i'd rather be living there, than here! My trains come courtesy of Wessex Trains, First Great Western and Virgin Trains. Wessex are worse than C2C....

Back in the good old days [British Rail, remember them...
sad.gif
] of closed compartments, I was coming back from a weekend of fishing with some mates, which had culminated in a 10 hour overnight session in Shoebury.

We caught the 06:40 train, they got off at Southend Central & I had to get off at Benfleet... well, I did eventually!

Now, other than a couple of hours sleep the previous day, I had been awake for some 40 odd hours and inevitably I fell asleep.

I woke up at Barking,
ghostface.gif
but felt as if I had only been asleep a few minutes... however, I looked at my watch, it was 10:15, and I was [apparently] making my second return journey... on a single ticket!

Now I know you can get away with travelling on the circle line all day, but to make two journeys on the misery line [as it was once known] and not be turfed off [or fined] is beyond comprehension... I was very grateful for British Rails incompetence

Now you are one lucky person. I got fined on C2C a couple of months back.

I had to jump a train in July as well, to Stratford from Pitsea as a) there wasnt anybody in the ticket office and b) the machine wasnt working. Had to buy a connecting ticket to Waterloo, no questions asked. Saved me £8. Result!
