Capt Beefheart dies

A true original, but not many singalongs - especially on 'Trout Mask'! Loved his performance on the Whistle Test circa '74, where he almost did mainstream but not quite. He had great presence from the few clips I've seen of him. Some of his artwork is supposed to be pretty good too, in a rather stark kind of way. RIP DVV

RIP Captain - what a maverick he was. Here's a great version of my favourite Beefheart track Electricity, from the seminal debut album Safe as Milk...

Didn't know he was still alive to be honest

Will have to dig out my copy of Trout Mask Replica. RIP Cap'n.

edit. Just remembered that I saw The Magic Band (sans Don Van Vliet) at All Tomorrow's Parties in 2003, they were very good.
