My first game of the season and trip to Sixfields so looking forward to this.

Even managed to convince my Newcastle, Blackburn and Man Utd supporting mates to join. Hoping we make a decent game of it so they'll come to the MK game with me!

I have my fingers crossed that you and your friends enjoy the game.

I wonder if we will be playing Blackburn next season. :omg:

Looking forward to my first away for ages  and what could be better than Northampton, a favourite away ground, and one of the SUFC girly's has a Birthday, so plenty of pre-match Porn Star Martini's :winking:
Makes for a great day out, with TGI's just across the road, plus we have won every time I've been there

Sounds like a fair few of the zone will be in attendance. Where is recommended for a few drinks before/afterwards?

To my knowledge there is no where local except for the usual lucklustre and unappealing franchise outlets that populate these retail waste lands.

The ground is about 2 miles out of town - so perhaps stay in town where there will be independent pubs and then get a bus or walk.

Only half decent pub nearby burnt down. On way from station to ground is the Thomas A Becket which is OK, otherwise it's the town centre. None of the outlets on the retail park are worth spending any time in.

EDIT: This is new, opened 2015, closest proper pub to the ground, near the rugby stadium https://whatpub.com/pubs/NTH/86/sevens-northampton

Northampton Saints are playing Wasps on Saturday, also 3pm kick-off, which is absolute madness. The rugby team is far better supported than the Cobblers and will get a crowd of at least 15,000. Parking will be at an absolute premium, so arrive early, or by train.

Nothing on the Cobblers site but this is what the rugby club are saying

Thanks for that info. You think Southend/Northampton would have let us know by now. That really will make the traffic busy.

Its crazy really as the 2 grounds are only 1 mile apart.

Sevens is a good pub with decent food. But it's right next to the rugby ground so will be rammed and is likely to have a door policy. The Squirrels in Duston is a better bet but not easy to find. http://www.thesquirrelsinn.co.uk/

I used to live in Northampton so know the area well. The Melbourne in Duston is the best close to the ground, an easy walk.

I'm really surprised nobody has commented yet on last night.
What is Brown doing letting us slip back into the relegation zone.
I think he should go now !

Slightly off topic, did anyone else see the Sky Sports News clip of Man Utd training in a Northampton Car Park ahead of their game tonight? very odd indeed.

Northampton v Man U is on Sky tonight. In case you want to see what we are up against Saturday

I shall be watching in the hope that it goes into extra time (so they will still be knackered come Saturday) and that they pick up have some injuries to their key players along the way..... Every little helps and all that.

I really hope they up their game big time and get a result. Often, when that happens, teams are completely garbage when they play their next league game.
