We left it a bit late, but a comprehensive 6-2 victory sets us up exhaustedly ready for Saturday and Wimbledon.

Well done southend. Comments, opinions ratings etc here.

Lets try to be positive - It is all about confidence and lets hope this is the start of a roll!!

can we sign palmer in jan he is a real handful for any defence . On the plus side a fantastic win for the blues a great win in the end and 6 goals as well YES THATS6 GOALS

yes and no. Longer term, Bradford and Hartlepool is what happens when you do £100 or £150 season tickets. Bradford's budget is shrinking year on year as the crowds get bored and shrink. You can imagine what they would then think if they had to hike the prices back up to league averages... Hartlepool tried that model too and it nearly put them out of business. It was only taking 4 match day tickets cost to make it worth getting a season ticket and then there was hardly any week to week revenue. since then, their crowds have dropped off and they are now in the conference.

SOUTHEND United scored four times in extra time to triumph 6-2 in tonight’s FA Cup first round replay at Crawley Town.

Just watched Billericay highlights. Chesterfields Denton looks useful

Theo was absolutely awful.....

A hard fought win...where the quality and extra fitness really started to show.

Palmer has had far the better of White in both games

Strange game. For most of it we looked so comfortable, yet we still needed extra time.

White scored for the away team both legs; they return the favour in the replay. Cox should have had hattricks both matches and avoided a replay and then extra time.

We take off an attacker and replace with a defender and we start scoring for fun.

Anyway, great to have so many on the scoresheet as they needed the confidence boost. The likes of Cox, McLaughlin (MoM) and White really needed that.

Just got back - it was pretty similar to the first game to be honest. We pretty much played them off the park in the first half and should have been out of sight - 2-0 at half-time didn't flatter us. Second half we stopped passing and resorted to long balls and allowed them back in it. Thankfully in extra time our extra ability shone through and in the end it was a comfortable win.

Player wise:

Oxley 7 - didn't do much wrong
Demitriou 7 - got up and down the wing well
Moore 7 - Classy performance with the ball at his feet but got bullied by Palmer a couple of times
White 7.5 - A typical steady John White performance and a great goal earns the extra half a mark
Kyprianou 6 - weak link of the back 4, and Crawley knew it
Bunn 8 - Sign him up, a great player
Hyam 7 - like the look of him, a bit stronger than Mantom and a good range of passing
Dieng 7 - Good covering at the back and gets forward too.
McLaughlin 8 - Strong performance from him and a great goal
Robinson 5 - Oh dear Oh dear Oh dear
Cox 7 - doesn't stop running but should have scored at least 5 tonight!

Subs: Mantom 6, Kightley 5, McCoulsky 7

SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell felt tonight’s 6-2 win at Crawley Town showed the Shrimpers will not do anything the easy way this season.

Sitting at West Ham waiting for the train. Had to leave the game a few mins early to get last train from Crawley. Saw all the goals though. Just shame first six up other end. If had gone to pens then would have missed them. Thankfully we put in a sublime period of extra time to eradicate any concerns and make a mockery of another dismal second half showing.

People may say that Robinson was awful. Better believe it.. When you lose Hopper you need somebody who can at least step in and do a bit of a job. Sadly he looked bereft of any confidence whatsoever and couldn't have looked less like scoring if he had tried.. Powell stuck with him and was eventually subbed to ironic cheers.

Mclaughlin put in his best performance of the season. A complete menace. Bunn very lively on left too. What a miss Hopper is. He would have had a field day tonight. Cox should have had a hatful on another night.. Ollie Palmer was their dangerman as he was at Roots Hall. If we had him then we wouldn't be struggling for goals.

Putting fingers away. It's freezing
Up the Blues
