I remember listening to BBC Late Night News. Football results are read out and Newsreader refered to us as ‘Friday Night Specalists Southend United’ Great Days Supporting Blues!

I must admit, I don't remember us beating Fulham 4-0 away. What year was that? Are you thinking about the early 90s when we won 3-0 there in Division Three?

I have just looked it Up, I am wrong slightly it was 3-0 to us not 4-0 and it was 23rd Feb 1991, we went top of the league, Sang it All the way home on train ,with many other BLUES Fans.

Fulham weren’t in our Division that season, they were a league above us.

I got it wrong a bit. It was 3-0 not 4-0 Away at Fulham. 23rd Feb 1991. I have supported Blues for 63 years so far, lots to try and remember xx

Ok, I'll put out this as an idea. If we (the Shrimpers Trust) ran a tribute evening with as many of the 80/81 playing squad as I can get there, would you be interested in attending?

Not discussed this with any of my Trust colleagues as yet but if there is interest I will put it up for discussion at our Trust Board meeting on Monday. Where, when, etc all decisions down the line for now - it wouldn't be an immediate 'in the next few weeks' thing.

It would probably be run as a fund raiser ie not a 'profit' event. And not complicated either, ie no meal, just a good reminiscing evening with our great players of Smithy's days with us and with a beer or two

I've been in touch with a few of the 80/81 team over past few hours and they have all indicted they would be up for it.

To avoid clogging up the air waves just put a like against this post if you would be interested.
