Exiled Shrimper
Manager
Last night's Essex Senior Cup Final (originally postponed back in March) featured a whole raft of ex-Shrimpers for both AFC Hornchurch and Colchester United. Tommy Black put Hornchurch in front by tucking home from close-range early in the second half before one-time Blues youngster Freddy Lapado equalised within seconds of being introduced as a substitute. Lapado, who turned down a scholarship with Southend in hope of a deal at Blackburn Rovers and earned a scholarship at Colchester in January, then swept home a controlled finish to win the U's the competition 18 minutes from time.
Matt Heath skippered the north Essex club with John White playing at right-back, whilst Pat Baldwin was introduced as a substitute at half-time. Dave McSweeney came off the bench for the Urchins during the second period.
