A man can't stop a stupid decision when he is dead but how about the people who selfishly get married on a Saturday during Football season. A thoughtless bride and a weak groom are no recipe for a long, happy or successful marriage

Well, as I was the one with the ST at Roots Hall I was a selfish bride who got married outside of the football season in June 1981 for that very reason - ended in divorce but at least I didn't miss a game.

My thoughts? EEK!
A couple of names that stand out in that list are in the top four scorers and are well into their 30's. Not sure what conclusion I draw from that. Maybe the journeyman senior pro on their way down the leagues (in other words a PB type player) isn't such a bad idea ?

Obviously it couldn't have been your fault. A wedding in June says a lot about you. Didn't some other princess get married around that time?

A fit John White will soon put paid to that. PB has made Oxley captain in the past too. Do you honestly think that JD deserves both, a starting place and the captains armband?

Didn't say that ....just said PB :Worthy:, has nominated his captain, for his reasons and it wouldn't look good on either party were they to change around after game 1 with only 5 to go

Ha! Remember taking my girlfriend (now wife) to Epping Forest that afternoon.Don't think I've been forgiven.

I'm sure it was either on a Weds or Thurs?. Being in 'The Print' back then, although it was a national holiday, the weekly regional newspapers still had to be printed.
We all got double time that day to work!.

Yeah,I got a day off work from the language school I was teaching at in London.Remember going to the theatre in the WE afterwards.Quite a few of her majs. subjects were celebrating. All the pubs were rammed.

For missing the wedding or what you did in the forest?

The former.Don't think she's missed a Royal Wedding since.Already got plans for Saturday though.:Winking:

Nominated his captain. I've not read or heard that from Phil Brown since last week. He selected him on Saturday that's all.

Based on what? I'm intrigued to know what you think he brings to the team.

If we're talking about JD he's clearly a PB type player.Agrressive (sometimes too much verbally).Always puting his foot in and breaking up opposition attacks.Thought he linked up well with Elvis on Saturday.Letting the younger man get his overlapping in and covering for him when he did.

On top of which, although he talks probably too much to the ref, he certainly gets in the refs ear and swings decisions our way over the course of a game, similar to Macca. Most importantly though hes constantly directing play based on the managers in-game instructions and organising the back 4 in JWs absence at the back. No idea if will stay captain on JWs return but either is fine with me

I don't think he and Macca get decisions swung our way. From what i've seen, they antagonise refs and tend to get yellow carded to keep them quiet.
