just watched the news and some council have banned fast food outlets from certain areas.

i agree 100%

kids scoff on this crap far too much, gaining weight poor fitness and probably alter their behaviour.

grays town centre has far too many, add out of town eateries ie macdonalds ect ect.

fair enough once a week as a treat.

add the fact that some workers take great pleasure in adding unsavoury titbits to the food.............ahhhhh............nasty.

Agreed Al. Subway are just as bad as the rest...some of my mates were scoffing on Subway many times per week thinking it was the healthy option, blah blah blah.

Within 2 weeks they had put on a good bit of weight!

Subway are also big fans of hydrogenated vegetable oil in everything , including the bread !

Lazy parenting again...

These fast foods have to be bought, why have the kids got the money to buy Mcrap every day ?

That is the problem......people who eat FF maybe once a week should not be penalized because of lazy parenting.

i know a family of 6 who binge on junk crap morning noon and night, there combined weight must be around 100 stone !!!

there insides must be virtually ruined.

Does that extend to coffee shops? Some of these coffees with cream etc have more calories than a big mac.

What about dessert in a restaurant? Should that be banned because it has too many calories in it? Or does that not count because only "rich" people would go there?

In my view it isn't the fast food outlets that are wrong, it's the parenting/people. If we didn't buy it they wouldn't be able to sell it. Nearly all the people I know with families eat healthily at home, and eat out once in a while. They also ensure their kids get plenty of exercise so they burn off what they eat. Get the balance right and there is no need to ban a fast food outlet, however much I loathe them.

Yorkshire Bambi will not be happy with you keep posting up articles of his ex-girlfriend.
The combined efforts of Bambi and Biffa probably burned off about 1% of those calories.

for me,

better education at school ie 1 hours lesson per week explaining fast food/smoking/unprotected sex/boozing ect.

tougher planning laws are required.

I don't know how KFC and Burger King are still classed as fast food, it's so bloody slow in there.

It doesn't matter how much you educate the kids, if the parents don't give a toss then the kids are not going to.

Personally , whilst we hold ourselves up as a bastion of capitalist free enterprise, I don't feel that it is right to stop a company expanding (even more so as most of the FF outlets are actually small traders under franchise schemes) just because parents can't stop their kids from eating too much.
I mean when was the last time an licence to sell alcohol (be it an offy, pub/bar or a supermarket) was refused due to potential alcoholism (anti social behavior / noise at kicking out time maybe, but not on health grounds)
