Today annouced that customers will be charged a fee of £10 a month if they do not keep a balance of or pay in £1,500 a calender month. I used to recommend the bank to anyone, but feel they might of overstepped the mark here, charging people to have an account with them.

If you have a second product with them though it will not effect you (e.g) savings account, or car insurance.

Even though the charge wont effect me, i still feel this is not fair. If i didnt have a seperate savings account i would be charged every month for using the account, as there is no way i earn £1500 in 3 months, let alone a month. if you keep charging people because they can't save alot then its out of order.
I can see why they've done it, but still £1,500 is unreasonable, maybe £500 would be fair. Unless your saving up for something, why would you have £1500 in your account (unless you've got a highly paid job)

Can see a mass exodus of customers, and also alot of unhappy people who have forgotten about their accounts with them, having £10 fines each month comming in (with prob a nice £30 bank charge as there wasnt enough to clear the orignal charge)

The really sad thing is they only pay about 2% interest so take the extra 3% as profit as well as the £10.

Banks are just legitamised thiefs.

Does this mean you just need to deposit £1 in a savings account?
