Hay Fever

I get it pretty bad, though hasnt been too hot this year.
Ive heard about the injections, that they arent 100% reliable- I guess there is always a risk with steroids.
Always best to start taking your meds a week or two before the hayfever season.

Oi! Pack it in the pair of you! (You and MK)

I've been sneezing a lot over the past weekend, got a sore throat and headache as well. I dont know much about hayfever, but are they symptoms of it?

Sounds like you had some dodgy smack actually Hils :D

I know someone who has got really bad hayfever and they swear by Flixonaze. It is a nasal spray on prescription and after a couple of days using it, his hayfever is down to the very occasional sneeze!

Have been feeling rally bad all weekend and woke up feeling like absolute **** this morning. I seem to go into random fits of sneezing which go on for ages, very iritating.

While we're on the topic, why does the weather do a pollen count when A) the scale is just ridiculous: high medium or low. How does that help at all?
B) Every day everywhere is high.

I have just drawn the curtains and it seems to be helping. I can at least remove the wad of tissues (Cricko, insert joke here) from my mouth.

It's a very stuffy bubble in here, I must say. Having just finished a preview of Greece against Sweden that took three issues of World Soccer, umpt-teen archived march reports and two cups of coffee, I'd really like to get out and go for a nice walk, or a bit of a sunbathe.

I won't say that the constant sneezing, sniffing, sweating and itching is irritating, but right now I want the board of directors at Clarityn lined up against a wall and shot for their incompetence. Is that harsh? I don't think it's harsh. Who thinks it's harsh.

*cocks pistol*

I dont think its harsh, Clarityn appears to be doing nothing for me either

They should do a new scale:

1, You will have a sniffle.

2, You will sneeze and then look a bit surprised for a moment.

3, You will sneeze and leave some of it on the person in front of you in the tube. He will turn around and try to remonstrate with you, but you will sneeze three times in a row and miss the whole thing. He will leave the tube and look for a towel.

4, You will sneeze several times on the tube. An old lady will hand you some tissues, but you won't be able to see her and she will take them back. Your eyes will fill with tears and your throat will itch just in the place where you can't reach it with your tongue. Your efforts to reach it will result in a low, snotty guttural noise that sounds a little like an elephant, dying slowly in a swamp. No-one will sit next to you on the tube.

5, You will sneeze from the moment you get on the tube until the moment you open your stinging eyes and notice a blurry sign for a station some twenty minutes past your intended destination. You will be on the floor by this point, one hand clutching the nearest tissue/newspaper/magazine/small child/guide-dog to your nose, the other flat on the floor for support. No-one will get in the carriage with you. You will hear the word 'SARS' mentioned along with the phrase 'possible gas attack'. You will be left alone to suffer. You will not cry out of shame. You will cry because you can no longer do anything else.

I reckon today was a '4'

My advice would be to read Day of the Triffids and be thankful that some of us are making sure that plants don't conquer the entire human race.

A superb book, make no mistake. Surprised no-one's tried to remake it as a movie yet, especially in these pollen-afflicted times. There's a real market.

I have just finished putting all his books out on the new bookcase, and was debating which one to reread first... Fantastic writer, particularly fond of The Chyslalids.

Pah .. hayfever, thats a stroll in the park (no pun intended heeheehee) compared to the purgatory i'm going through at the moment

I'm trying to quit smoking (5 days, or to be more accurate 129 hours 47 minutes ... not that i'm counting you understand) and i'm on the verge of doing a Michael Ryan down Progress Road :darkcloud: (where's the guns smiley when its needed most !!!)

And lots more here:

Suprised that no one has mentioned my No1 over the counter rememdy for at least the runny nose bit, which is the bit I hate most - Contac.

You are supposed to only take one every 12 hours but TBH I have been known to just take them until MY DAMN NOSE STOPS RUNNING!! AAAAGGHHH!

Are very effective.

I use some one-a-day tablet made by Galphargm (sp?) which is usually enough to halt the sneezing, runny nose, sore throat and itchy eyes/nose for the better part of a day!

My allergies flared up a bit over the weekend after camping in the mountains, but luckily returning to the desert-like climate of Denver cleared it up in a hurry.

I'm back in the stuffy isolation booth, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as yesterday. Anyone else seeing an improvement, or are my pills finally kicking in?

I'd put this at a 2.5, I reckon.

I find going abroad is the best cure for hayfever!

Interesting comment. Mate of mine who is a fellow sufferer usually goe's to Spain for his holidays during the hay fever season. He dos'nt experience a solitary sneeze until he steps off the plane at Gatwick upon returning and then his nose and eyes instantly go into overdrive.
